Argh, made the pledge to not get into enigma (enough headaches already :O) but a local sale showed up at a low price, and there it is in the house, taking over life and keeping one awake at night pondering over why's and how's.

First, must aknowledge the excellent build quality and mechanical details. After finally managing to reset it (wiping a mess from prev owner), and managing scanning in a few channels, picture quality is excellent, and it's a fast box. Later tested the blind scan, excellent.

Then, at 3.30 in the night, after lots of fruitless atempts and confusion, choose to get help (1\2 a valium, that solved it :O) and got the network and ftp working.

Easy\fast to transfer\backup of recordings etc to pc, the .ts files play fine in vlc, mpc-hc etc.

Knowing nothing about images, using blackhole ftm and see how it goes.

Ah, more "stuff"!

I've resisted the temptation to acquire any new Satellite toys for a couple of years now.

But what does the future hold?

Nice - it's next on my list of things to buy. How's the tuner sensitivity?

Will know more after some days (testing HD's at evenings on 28.2). But initial impression as good as\maybe somewhat better than the few references here, humax hdr1000 & vantage 8000.

I think my VU+ Uno is pretty sensitive but it's getting a bit long in the tooth now...

The solo2 runs extremely cool and silent. Even the ext. power supply hardly gets any temp. Very good.

Crawling forward. Got crossEPG working. Learned some about doing backups. And got into the world of 'bouquets'.

Am using a router, cabled, amazed by the stuff one can do from the pc, apart from ftp, this OpenWebif thing is great, basically could turn off the tv and run\edit the whole box\watch programs on a pc. And use all the remote buttons and menus clicking on the pc screen.

Being new to all this, am quite ....flabbergasted :O)
Now, let's see how many more experiments it will cope with before managing to brick it lol

Great box had one when they very first came out, had literally every model of the Vu's apart from the Duo2 i skipped that for the Solo 4K.

As for tuner sensitivity it beats the Uno hands down

Found a 'satfinder' in there, with very fast \ sensitive bargraph, great (if one can see the tv while adjusting dish).

Any info on how to chenge to db ? Thanks
Picture looks excellent to me, certainly not missing anything form any of the others (signature).

Tuners are definitely the best among my boxes, but it hasn't made the 28e dish larger (am looking for a plugin to do that :O)

Ordered it!
Congrats. Behaves very well here. Blackhole 2.1.7.01 as it was when delivered, will eventually update when I know more.

500gb hd, struggled at the start to get the box to recognize it when booting from cold, but stable now.
A mini Sandisk ultra 8gb usb for epg.

to change to dB you got to use Swap SNR In % with SNR In dB option which Is In OSD settings In my Image

don't worry you will find It - search for swap etc ... option In every menu and sub menu or ask In vu community forum - they use your Image
can you expand that menu
I use OpenAtv Image and It Is there

Mr Poirot , I use Open VIX on my E2 boxes. So not sure if this will help.
Menu
Setup
System
User interface
Settings
use down button to second page of commands, swap SNR in % with SNR in dB

Assume it is the ar*e, sorry blackhole software may be different to the VIX I´m using.

^ thanks for info. So OpenAtv & Open VIX got db, but seems n\a in the Blackhole here. No problem, %'s are fine for my use.

Next, use rest of the year trying\learning images, plugin\addons etc, and in the end go back to humax hdr and just push 'on' and watch tv lol

But if you were to follow that philosophy, would you not be loosing the picture, instead of getting it? :-rofl2

You can either use the Signal finder APP on your smart phone or log into the webif both via wi-fi if it reaches that far while your outside on the ladder :-)
