Some 8mm kit for me!!!

Now I mean 8mm as in Tape, not the old cine-film...

Anyway, I was watching an auction on ebay a month ago which never sold, and just out of the blue I thought I'd ask the seller if they still had it and were willing to accept an offer on the kit, low and behold, they still had it, I offered £35 + the original £20 P&P and here is what I'm getting:

So, in addidtion to my Betamax kit, I'll now have some of Sony's next pioneering format, 8mm tape (which went on to Hi8 and Digital8)...

I'm betting that the batteries will need replacing as they look pretty old...

As for the camera, I haven't a clue, I haven't got the kit yet!!!

I've got an 8mm Samsung here and the quality is great.
Make ace webcams and you can record the video straight to HD as well (if your video card will do it).

I used to use my old 8mm camcorder as a webcam via an old TV card prior to it's heads dieing, and thinking about it I may still have a couple of 8mm tapes somewhere...

I actually have another TV card that to date I haven't tested, it's from one of those Aldi PC's as it's labelled "Medion", but it looks ok, I just haven't rebuilt my PC yet!!!

No thanks...

I got my kit today, I just have to figure out what's wrong with the VCR, it keeps saying "Battery Down" (as in dead) and cuts out even if it's on the AC adaptor's output, but it's screen and tape recorder parts seem to work (until it cuts out of course!!!)...

As for the camera, well, it's just like my Betamax recorder and camera setup, it's literally just a camera, it connects to the V/walkman and records via that, and the camera is about the same size as a modern sony miniDV camcorder!!!

Gawd, it's impossible to find anything on the GV-300E!!! It's either batteries, or PDF user guides for $15.99!!!! 'O'-red

I suppose it's a case of find a wall and run into it, cos I couldn't find anything visibly wrong with the unit's internals, and there's no sign of any "Common faults" anywhere on the net, it's frustrating!!!'O'-red

There are these video walkmans, which have AV outputs, but unlike mine, they tend to be expensive. Also, there is I think a Hi8 VCR deck (may be Video8 compatible), but again this tends to be expensive. or you could just get a camera off ebay to transfer your tapes then just sell it again on ebay...
