Norway is amazingly beautiful.
People should go a travel around for a week or two - you can get so much variation in beauty in just 600 km. In, say, Canada, you'd hav to travel thousands of kms to get the same variation.
Too bad the beer is so dear. :)

It is indeed and somewhere I intend visit in the (hopefully) not distant future.

Too bad the beer is so dear. :)
And the diesel for my car. Think I may have to tow my own fuel bowser behind me.

Thanks. Some replies,

Diesel price ok, it's the big increase in roads\tunnels charging toll that makes driving expensive here!

It's generally peaceful (unless when some crazy fanatic bombs the government building and kills dozens of people...). Big towns problems with trafic, crime and drugs. Countryside very different and much better!

Dish was SH and quite old, but seemingly good condition, found on finn.no, was owned by an Englishman that returned to England.

Doing some crossing (in whatever direction) over the central mountains gives that great varying scenery over short distances. Hotels are expensive, but lots of fine camping sites along any scenic route.

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

The dish could have gone inside the van, and put the other baggage on the roof.

Beautiful scenery though, I've only seen Sweden and Iceland, three to go (though isn't/wasn't Scotland a potential candidate for Scandinavian waters last year ?)

Seen Sweden and Denmark so far. I think we might head up to Finland this winter.

Definitely not, unless I had used an axe to cut away some of the dish width :O)
The roof transport went perfect, safely and easy.

Glad you had a good time.

I'd like to spend time in Scotland someday, but as the ferry Bergen-Newcastle is not operative, it's sadly quite out of the way for a car trip.

I'm only going on what I've researched on-line but Norway appears to have the most expensive petrol and diesel in Europe - even more so than the UK.

Petrol diesel fuel prices in Europe April 21st 2016

Toll motorways will not mostly be a problem as I stay away from those so that I can just tour around.

^^^ yes, expensive (taxes, of course) but diesel quite cheaper than petrol, and substantial price cuttings are regularly to be found on different stations and different days, so it pays to top up regularly when spotting a discount. Roughly, diesel on this trip was around 1.15 -1.20 euro\l, van uses around 0,65\10km, so no complaints.

Problem with toll it's not only city centers and motorways (and anyway there are nearly no motorways in this retarded (roadwise) country), now they ask payment on smaller roads, to pay for work being done and for new tunnels.
