I would recommend using thread or fishing line instead of a shoelace, you can adjust it much more precisely

Yeh thats maybe not a bad shout, was just using some masonry line.

This project is on hold for a few weeks.. summer holidays and all that!

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

I would suggest sticking the dish up against a patio window and see which parts of the reflector edge miss the glass. Then adjust to the best you can. It will take a few attempts until you get it right as a beginner.

(But that would be too simple)

Finally had some spare time today to come back to this problem and get it mounted in it's proper home.

7e readings taking few mins apart

1.2 Gibby - 11.8db
1.5m Gibby - 12.3db

I've been experimenting with some wood to bring the top and bottom in, improved by about 0.5db, Might consider trying to do the same for the sides.

Wee bit of improvement I guess, but I still have a 1.5m dish pretending its a 1.2m

I have always wondered if heating (using a heat gun) specific dents might help them regain their natural shape.

Aluminium can be straightend out with the right tools, no heat required.
