Hi guys, I have my iMac streaming content from my DM800 using VLC player. However I cannot for the life of me work out how to record this stream as a video file to my hard drive.

Could someone please explain how this can be done?

Thanks,
Adam

I do not know if you can save the stream in VLC but there is an option File>Convert/Save, but surely you can mount a directory on your Mac (as in Windoze) on your DM800 and have the DM800 record to that?

I've never tried recording to a PC it but in NBH image you can mount PC directory using CIFS (which I have done successfully to play movies etc.).

Thanks for replying jsimo. I cant seem to get my hard drive mounted either now! Has anyone any experience of using a Mac with the DM800 that could point me in the right direction please?

I cant say I know anything about MAC's as I've never owned one, but I'd guess you should be looking at mounting a network share rather than a drive.

The Dreambox will happily work with quite a few network directory sharing protocols including SMB (Windows network shares {Or Samba server}). I'm sure there must be a way to set up a shared folder on your iMac that's compatible with supported protocols on the Dreambox.

Indeed, using nabilo blackhole 0.12 my iMAC picks up on the shared folders of the dreambox which are running by default in Bh0.12 without any intervention at all. They are displayed in 'Finder' , (macs version of the Windows 'My Computer') under shared drives. It gives me direct access to the box without the need for FTP.
So yes its very easy to do it the other way.
