Just so I'm sure I've not missed anything obvious, the good old string test for warpage works as well on offset dishes as it does on PF doesn't it? I made the trip to Plymouth last night to collect my £1 Gibby and have it sitting on the lounge floor at the moment with quite a few lengths of cotton across the face. All seem to touch or be less than 1mm apart which suggests it is OK as it's hard to tell by eye. It's definitely a Gibertini too and overall the condition is quite good considering it was last used in Italy for Sky UK reception before being transported back. There's a couple of small ridges in the dish where it's been laid on it's back and scored (maybe pushed across the ground?) plus a couple of small dinks but I think I can probably tap them all out. Apart from that it's just dirty with some splashes from fence paint on the rim, it came with a FreeWave quad LNB and a 1.5m long 75mm pole with wall brackets. If the weather improves over the weekend I'll fix a pole in the garden and set it up so I can compare it to the 1m.

Off for a lay down now, finished work yesterday at 12 and got the 1pm train, into Plymouth at 7.30, dish on car and back on the road for 8.15, got into bed at 2.30 then up at 4.45 for work again O-zzz

I wasn't feeling quite so enthusiastic at 5 this morning! Nahhhh, she's cool with it really. She's had nearly 30 years of CB, ham, DXTV and satellite stuff interfering with married life so she's just about used to it now. The trick is to balance messing with hobby stuff with domestic chores, three days of sitting next to the 1.8 was traded for putting in a new picket fence last weekend. I'm a dab hand at mixing up concrete now :-righton

Does string test works for offset dishes taller than its width?
