Hi. Trying to find my western most position on my system and it's not 61.5w so I am turning to C band channels. I managed to log 40.5w but nothing beyond that (can see 45w in Ku).

Can someone give me strong transponder references from satellites between 50w and 58w? I know they are linear so I have to remove the polariser plate, though I can receive 3e in linear without removing it.

All linear with the exception of 53w. I can post some strong tp for you but I'm on the other side of the pond.

That is west-hemi so not a cat-in-hell's chance of getting that here. Probably the only hope is 3740 R 3906 1/2... but I cant raise that on my 1.5m.

Fully aware of that, that's why I mentioned in post #2 that I'm on the other side of the pond.

Thanks all. Managed to grab 50W but nothing from the others. I am guessing either the fence is in the way or the trees beyond. Strangely enough, I can receive some circular channels without the plate in, notably the 11W channels (both TPs).

Will try 55W again later as I have to cook dinner now!

Not surprising considering the power level of that satellite.

On 53W I can't resolve any channels. VS managed 3740 R at some point so you could check with him.

No chance on 58W. Managed to get signal of around 3dB on RTP transponder on 55W but not enough for a lock. I guess the fence is blocking some signal there.

Are there any strong transponders from 37.5W to aim for? Tried a few but couldn't get a signal on anything there.

1.2m is adequate for dabbling with C-band, is it? Am tempted to give it a shot..... :)

hmmm technically I need planning permission above 1m, and while I could probably get away with a ground-mounted 1.2m (we're next to a field and it's rare to even see cows in it, and they tend not to complain) anything above would be a bit iffy. I can't be bothered with the bureaucracy of the "permis de constuire"..... Then there is the domestic planning permission issue :)
