11w, 3e and 20e are all doable on a 1m dish. I managed 3e on a Penta 85 dish! 11w is very strong as well...

technically I need planning permission above 1m, and while I could probably get away with a ground-mounted 1.2m [...] Then there is the domestic planning permission issue :)
85cm dish is the biggest dish that doesn't require planning permission in the UK. Just measured the Fibo 90 and that is 105cm tall so would require planning. Easy answer is just make the install "temporary".

Do-able, but disappointing. 2 Russian transponders on 11W (good for CJ), 3 transponders on 20E (most stuff duplicated on 7W), and at 3E just a couple of crap Arabic transponders, nothing from Rascom. On my 1.5m dish I have 560 channels scanned in but even that is pretty disappointing because the majority of them are right at the receive threshold and severely pixelized most of the time. I'd say for C-band 2.4m is a realistic starting point with 1.8m as an absolute minimum. In C-band a 1m dish equates to 30cm dish in Ku, and a 2.4m C-bander equates to 80cm in Ku.

And wasn't it up to 1m that didn't require a permission?

That said, I had 1.2m dishes installed in various places and never had any issues. My Channel Master can be seen by one neighbour and a tip of it can be seen but another. The Fibo 120 is installed in plain view of several neighbours on the outhouse and, again, no issues. Depends on the neighbours really. Not sure how stringent they are in France though.

I guess it depends on the department or even the commune here...and if your neighbour is close.....no one has said anything to me thus far....but then the Mayor has yet pay me a visit and it's over 12 years since I moved here.......something over say 5M might get someones attention though, especially the low flying military jets...

CJ, my point was that an 85cm dish is the biggest dish that is smaller than 1m. If you measure a 90cm offset dish it is 105cm x 90cm so would in theory require planning permission.

Ah, I see! Well, if it's high up in the air, it's difficult to judge the extra 5cm :)

If there is a neighbour's dispute the rep from the local authority will measure it.

It's wise to avoid "Hitlerite" types of Planning officials, if possible! ;)
