Hi recently picked up this 36 inch (original I think) superjack as part of the irte package

It is rather rusty inside and upon connecting to vbox gave an instant er2 fault, upon removal of the arm the plastic wheel is spinning and not reporting any faults

The lower section of the arm is jammed solid I assume this would need repacking with grease? there is a bolt in the top with a pin through which I can see connects to the plastic cog wheel

Is this salvageable and if so how do I access the internals of the arm, the end of the arm should twist but is solid

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

I don't think they made a 36", but a lot of the other sizes I have serviced before have been in terrible condition.
Since it is early then the components are worth restoring.

For the worm drive, put it head down in a bucket in the garden and pour a 50/50 petrol and diesel mix into the open end and leave covered for at least a week, checking if it starts freeing up (a set of mole grips) and topping up with what pours out. Do not start to dismantle until there is some movement.

Hi have managed to get it free and working quite nicely now I got the thread all the way out wire wheeled it and regreased it

It is moving quite freely now the only problem is there is a bit of grit/dirt still stuck inside so every time you fully extend the arm it comes out with a load of black crap on it (the half a tin of WD40 to free it up probably dislodged a lot of it)

I got a 13mm socket and cut a u section out to get over the pin in the bolt then after 30 minutes soaking in WD just blasted it with an impact and it freed up

I think if you went out and wiped it once a week with WD it would eventually clean up

Regards the size you are correct it is a 3024 - 24 inch I assume?

I currently have a 36 inch supersuper jack generic on my gibby which is about 2 years old does the job. may use the original superjack on the 2.4 but it will limit me a bit

y u no risson ?

The whole point of the petrol is degreasant, the diesel carries the dirt with it as it flows through.

WD40 does neither, its for displacing moisture but other claims as byproducts. Once you see dry rust it is of little use until cleaning everything thoroughly.

Totally agree but its not bad for a genuine superjack that was seized a few hours ago is now running beautifully WD40 does a job when you need it too

Yuu will also need to pack it with marine grease after rinsing otherwise it will rust quicker than when manufactured.
