Found an odd one here on 8W

It reminds me of Vipersans FOX News feed it is ACM/VCM and won't decode the picture properly in Italian with Top Secret in top left

I'm only getting this tonight on 12529H SR2000. It's also an ACM, 16APSK.

Strangely, it drops VLC before any video is shown, after parsing the stream. The only way I could get a screengrab of the feed is via Transedit - DVBViewer.

It's randomly changing modulation due to being ACM. Which is why we keep getting broken transport streams.

If I understand ACM correctly we will never have away to watch properly?

Certainly seems that way remlap. Should've said that picture constantly garbles, as does the audio, had to wait for a momentarily stable picture to grab the screen. Seemed to be a commentary of a selection of Italian newspaper headlines.

I think I saw a similar thing happen on 12.5W on some Italian channels on the Uno.

New Crazyscan

The latest Crazyscan application allows PLS (Physical Layer Scrambling) descrambling of Mediaset transponders on 13E, together with the RAI multistream TP's bound for the Italian regional terrestrial services on 5W
.
You can download the new files from -http://sourceforge.net/projects/crazyscan/files/

Details below from Rick's at -http://rickcaylor.websitetoolbox.com/post/Crazyscan-BLScan-Software...Post-Files-Here-5344588?trail=45

StreamReaderEx-BDA 1.1.0.1036 -

•New function PLSSel - PL-descrambler control (mode and 18-bit code). New function realized for all supported STV090x-based devices. Detailed info given in DVB-S2 EN 302 307 standard - p.30, point 5.5.4, Physical layer scrambling.

CrazyScan 1.0.1.52 -

•Control of DVB-S2 PL descrambler in carrier search dialog window. There is possibility to select mode of code (Root, Gold and Combo) and code (1-262143). If specify PL = 0, then auto-search of code (full range 1-262143) will be enabled. For search speed-up it is desirable to select DVB-S2 modulation standard, also select MinSR >> 1000 ks/s, if carrier on the spectrum has big width (i.e. SR>10000 ks/s).

P.S. StreamReaderEx-SDK updated.

P.P.S. Mediaset multistream transponders on Hotbird 13E have PL = Root, 8.
Another found multistreams on 5W: -http://forum.satkurier.pl/viewtopic.php?f=13&p=669133#p669133
From the TBS6925 section at -www.tbsdtv.com -

List of frequiencies that can be received
13°E
- 11,334 GHz, pol. H, SR: 27500, FEC: 2/3 (DVB-S2/8PSK), PLS Mode: Root + 8, MIS: 1, 2 (Mediaset)
- 11,373 GHz, pol. H, SR: 27500, FEC: 2/3 (DVB-S2/8PSK), PLS Mode: Root + 8, MIS: 1, 2 (Mediaset)
- 11,432 GHz, pol. V, SR: 27500, FEC: 2/3 (DVB-S2/8PSK), PLS Mode: Root + 8, MIS: 1, 2 (Mediaset)
- 12,539 GHz, pol. H, SR: 27500, FEC: 2/3 (DVB-S2/8PSK), PLS Mode: Root + 8, MIS: 1, 2 (Mediaset, copy of 11,334 GHz, pol. H)
5°W
- 11,012 GHz, pol. V, SR: 30000, FEC: 3/5 (DVB-S2/8PSK), PLS Mode: Root + 16416, MIS 2, 3, 11 (RAI)
- 11,179 GHz, pol. V, SR: 30000, FEC: 3/5 (DVB-S2/8PSK), PLS Mode: Root + 16416, MIS 4, 5, 12 (RAI)
- 11,637 GHz, pol. V, SR: 30000, FEC: 3/5 (DVB-S2/8PSK), PLS Mode: Root + 16416, MIS 1-6 (RAI)
- 11,675 GHz, pol. H, SR: 30000, FEC: 2/3 (DVB-S2/8PSK), PLS Mode: Root + 16416, MIS 7-16 (RAI)
- 12,585 GHz, pol. H, SR: 27500, FEC: 2/3 (DVB-S2/8PSK), PLS Mode: Root + 8, MIS 1 (data transmission, OpenMux IP Gateway)
- 12,606 GHz, pol. V, SR: 29900, FEC: 2/3 (DVB-S2/8PSK), PLS Mode: Root + 8, MIS 1, 2 (Mediaset)

Using the Root numbers above in Crazyscan, I can open the appropriate channels specified above. Some are FTA anyway where they are normally transmitted on e.g 13E, others (for instance RAI Premium) are normally encrypted on 13E, but are FTA on 11.179v using Root + 16416 on MIS 4.

As long as we know the root + (x) where (x) = 1 to 262143, it's plain sailing. Otherwise we would have to let Crazyscan run through the lot (maybe a day?)

I expect Crazycat has extrapolated the needed roots . He's a genius anyway for getting this one working.

BTW, PLS isn't a proprietary encryption system as such, so keys/codes aren't involved. Seems to be just a method of maintaining the integrity of the transmitted multistreams without using a recognised encryption at the encoding stage. That can be applied as necessary as well, e.g Nagravision for those Mediaset channels that are not FTA.

Would welcome any clarification, just to be sure.

PLS is described in DVB-S2 standard's document "ETSI EN 302 307", paragraph 5.5.4 (pages 30-32).

At last some clarification about alleged modulation schemes that could be found on different transponder sites :D _http://rickcaylor.websitetoolbox.com/post/Receiving-locking-of-H8Psk-transmissions-5603666

But it doesn't mean that the missing transponders on 5W are DVB-S2 modulated and can be demodulated provided the right PLS numbers are found. Without only constellation diagram and symbolrate can be evaluated. Though it's most likely that off-the-shelf DVB-S2 hardware is used ;)

  • Added carrier search with auto-search of PLS-code from random number (checkbox 'Search PLS code').
PLS-code 0 have usual value now.
  • Added frequency range selection by mouse for 'visual' blindscan on the spectrum window.
If frequency range selected, then blindscan will operate with this range, otherwise blindscan will work for full band, as before in previous versions.

Thanks. Thought the previous one had autosearch of carriers, don't know if this one speeds thing up?

@Llew, IMHO this is a nice new feature. Before you had to change start and end frequency to perform a partial blindscan. Now the region can be defined by just 2 mouse clicks :) It would be even better if this was possible as well after zooming ;)

It would be good if anything could be done during a zoom, so easy to zoom in and seperate two carriers that are close by only to have to zoom back out so they become a blurred mess before trying to scan each one.
