Which of these is the best receiver to get for a newbie I am after ease of use etc
1 Technomate 6900 HD-Usb-Pvr Combo

2 SUPER DARKBOX COMBO 2008 HD

The Tm6900 has a multicrypt card slot and also two CAM slots.
Does the Darkbox have the same?
What are the pro's and cons of both receivers

One more Q the combo box's have two sat connections at the back does this mean I can conect my old sky dish to one for freesat and conect the other to a motorised dish to scan all the other sats

Thanks

I installed a darkbox motorised system for a customer the other day and what a nightmare, menu's hard to work, set system up and was going haywire not hitting sats, put in old technomate from back of van and dish hit every sat every time, darkbox kept freezing and jamming constantly thats second one i ve installed and both displayed similar probs.

Technomate everytime for me

Is there much HD content available to view with the TM 6900 and diablo or would it be worth getting a SD receiver if so which would you recommend?

I take it your an installer is it possible for you to do a site survey and determin what satellites that can be received from any given location.

Plus what is the difference between TM-6900 HD COMBO Super and the TM-6900 HD Super.

6900 has terrestrial tuner the 6800 does not, that is all.

There is no difference. The 6900 is a combo unit, i.e Terrestrial and satellite combined in one unit, just the word combo missing from description probably, but same receiver. The 6800 = sat only, the 6900 = combo.

The TM-6900 combo super is £282.00 and the TM-6900 combo is £249.00 that is why I thought there was a difference in the two units.

Ahh well, there is a difference between the TM6900 combo super and the TM6900 combo. The super has an ethernet port.

But actually you can buy the TM6900 combo super for £249, one of the site sponsors Southernsatellite has them at this price.:)

You may have to mention this forum to get it though.

I have a Technomate, my next reciever will be an Eagle.
It´s cheap and has loads of support on various forums. It´s a great box for the price. Linux is the future, well it is for now at any rate. Upgrade later to something much more expensive when you know exactly what you need.

In theory a blind scan tests every possible combination of Frequency polarity SR and FEC to search for channels and subsequently store them. They normally scan the arc they can see.

The reality is that some stb's, like my ID digital, the scan function was written to work from a database so if the database is incorrect then it will not scan it and miss things out. I had my stb a few months before I realised I was missing out on stuff.
