hi ive got technomate tm-5402hd cant get a signal been told i need a computer code and pay a subscription is that right.?

All you require, to get a signal, is a satellite diush, aligned to the correct satellite, a working LNB and a receiver.
Your profile states you already have a Sky dish, is this working? When was the last time you checked it? If you connect the F connector to your receiver and scan in FTA, Free to Air, channels on Astra 2, 28.2e, then you should get a signal, and some channels.
Can you please post more details, providing they do not regard using a server.
