To get the most out of your TM5502HD I have compiled a Tutorial on the Blind Scan as some of this information is not in the manual.

These are currently the Best Receiver for Feed Hunting in my opinion TM5502HD / TM5302HD,

For a quick & easy set up to find out what is active on a satellite,

Go to 10 east feeds satellite (Active in the Ku band 10.7 to 11.7GHz & 12.5 to 12.75GHz

For quicker results I usually split the Ku band up into smaller groups with the most active 1st

Method 1
Move to the satellite that you want to search
Now to see what is active between 10700 to 12750 on this satellite use the Satellite Finder (Spectrum Analyses)

Menu >> Installations >> Satellite Finder

Part-1
1/Installation
2/Advanced search
3/Move the cursor to transponder & press ok this will show the list of transponders
4/Press the yellow button Delete All & press OK then exit exit
5/Now go to Blind Search & press OK
6/Select transponder range for the 1st scan
7/Press ok now set From 10950 To 11200 using both vertical & horizontal polarisation (Or what you have observed via the Spectrum Analyses)
8/Select Step Scan @ 6MHz & press the red button to search

This method is a lot faster than going through the data base that may include 40 transponders to delete non active transponders

Part-2
As above 1 to 6 now for the 2nd scan select From 11450 To 11700

Part-3
3rd scan From 12500 To 12750

Part-4
11200 to 11450

Part-5
10700 to 10950 Vertical polarisation

This completes the active part of the Ku band used by Eutelsat 10A @ 10 east your channel list for this satellite
will now be up to date provided your Dish & Lnb have been set up correctly.

Eutelsat 9A @ 9 east uses 11700 to 12500 for DTH broadcasts.

Before you start a scan you can either remove the dead transponders manually one at a time or you can delete all transponders
on a satellite via the Yellow button accessed via Menu>> Installations>>Advanced Search then move the cursor down to Transponders
then press ok & the option will appear on the Yellow Button "Delete All"
Now exit exit & go to Blind Search,

It is only advisable to do this on Feed Satellites not on Direct to Home satellites such as Astra 28.2 east 23.5 east 19.2 east
Hotbird ect.

Some satellites uses all the Ku Band others use only part of the Ku band Spectrum I will upload my latest guide later today.

So if you download the latest patch which looking at the list is No63 does that include all the previous updates for the 5402HD M3?

Technomate Android on the way
January 16, 2016 | Uncategorized
Yes thats right, a Technomate Android receiver is finally on the way. Pre production units have been tested, and the final production units are expected to be ready in 8-12 weeks. Full details are a little sketchy at the moment, but, it seems to be some sort of hybrid receiver, satellite with a technomate skin / OSD, and android operating system as well.

Ensure you follow technomatesoftware on facebook or Technom8sw on twitter for updates as this post is edited

It will have a SATA HDD caddy, and any other information will be added to this post.

A similar receiver to the TM5402-M3 (which is a great and popular receiver) with android 4.4 KitKat as an alternative operating system.

The satellite software will be the same as the TM5402-M3, an updated HD version of technomates amazing RTOS software which has been used on its receivers for over a decade

Hmmmm, some body needs to ask Technomate if they would be happy to ask somebody from this forum to help with beta software requirements to suit and function on all present frequency bands that are accessable because left to them it will be a disaster judging on previous efforts

I will have to wait for the full report from Technomate Will 1 before I get one. After lots of pondering I got an Atemio Nemesis because I like the Egami image, has HDMI in from my TM 5402. I can stream from the Atemio but have yet to find a program that will play the streamed input from the TM 5402. I can record to the Atemio from the TM 5402 and then stream. Great box. Had problems with the Spark dual boot but am able to boot from several images I loaded. Still learning.

I have the Amiko Alien3 with runs on Android, basically the same screens as you would get on any Android device with apps you can download. The satellite tuner bit is also basically an app but is added at the factory. If you are after blind scan, then I have never rated any blind scan on any linux box, the Amiko3 one is lightening fast but misses out low SR transponders and is not configureable
Whether the TM one is going to be along the same lines is anybodys guess.

The Blind Scan Brain Teaser is back again. What parameters are used to compare blind scan performance which obviously alters just what is received. So many details makes it hard to compare one box/image to another and for me it gets so complicated I give up and listen to The Platters. Unchained Melody.

I just didn't find Emigma2 image any good for blind scan, either crashed the box or failed to start etc, mind you, my experiences were the with the AZBug boxes, maybe others can tell another story using different boxes/images.

Is the Blind Scan any good ?

Can you scan seperate parts of the Ku band for example:-
10950 to 11200
11450 to 11700
12500 to 12750

10700 to 11700 using just one polarisation V
11200 to 11450
Can you choose the way the scan is performed in variable MHz steps 1-2-3-4-6-8 ect ?

Does the receiver display the following:-
Correct modulation ie DVB-S2,DVB-S
Forward Error Correction
QPSK/8PSK
MPEG-2/MPEG-4
TS info ECM / BER
Bit rate
Scan type
Frame rate
ect.

Blind scan is not a reason to get a linux stb. These receivers have other advantages.

Agreed if you are a Feed Hunter then it does not get any better than the TM5502HD,

There is nothing that you can watch on a Linux that I cannot watch on a non-Linux so in my opinion the Linux versions currently available are limited to what they can do.

A little offtopic, but seems the old Vantage has some ok features. If I were to try some ku 'hunting', what sat position is the best to start with for an ignorant beginner ?
Thanks
