Theres a technical reason. Your box doesnt like the way the streams are transmitted for some reason. They work on my Echostar and the fta Coship Ive got rigged up in the bedroom.

Hi,

Let alone the transmissions related to the Wimbledon tournament, it seems that 6 out of the 7 streams available from 2B are most of the time close. However on BBC’s webpage it says that Interactive TV is always available, showing news, sports, weather forecats etc.

Do you know why this is happening Analoguesat ?

thanks

There are effectively 2 separate sets of stream:

The Dev channels on Astra 2D (10847) carry the weather / news headlines etc most of the time. The 12441 transmissions show a short test loop all the time when proper programming isnt on The test loops show the stream numbers.

Most of the Wimbledon games have been on 12441, so although the "interactive" games are only up whilst games are on (obviously) the streams are always there.

But is there an absolute and concise explanation why my humax cannot receive these free to air 12441 channels , or should that be descramble them as they show a good signal quality, but no picture or sound ?

And how come your echo picks them up analogue ?

Thank you Analoguesat for your valuable input to our discussion regarding the 12441 frequency.

However I kindly ask you to provide me with some piece of info regarding what can one see through these DEV channels on a "regular day" (meaning a non-Wimbledon, non-Euro 2004 etc.), based on the fact that in another post of yours you mention that news and weather are transmitted through the 2D transponder. Will I ever have the chance to see an FA cup game that is broadcasted from BBC 1 say for example ? With respect to the latter I noticed that last Saturday there was a live rugby game on BBC which was not transmitted through the 2B interactive channels, despite the fact that on that day there was no Wimbledon action.

Many thanks

ax

Had a look in the middle of the evening yesterday - and they had changed their flamin output from the usual test loop!!! All but one channel was off air, with the final stream broadcasting some thing about digital photographs of the UK.

When Ive got a minute one evening I will get a screen grab of the test loop and post it.
