Managed to get into Asisasat 7 who is also the on 78.5E with Thaicom.
3826H 4782 3/4 by about 5.0 dB.

Have Kvyes tried, perhaps better result than my after further east ?

Huge thanks Lasseparabol! Asiasat 7 catched here also :) Only that 3826H however (yet) but new bird anyway. Channel 7 only channel and it coming at 5.1db here. Must try little fine tuning later and hopely will get it more strongly or even get these other freqcs..?

Regular programming has been back on for a week already, monitored by the Military. Good catch, btw.
Getting a strong signal here.

I am very interested in picking up Thaicom 5 (3990 V 12000), I am currently sorting a motor out for my 1.28m dish but i only have a ku-band lnb. Sorry to be a pain but do you guys think i'll be able to get this if i buy a c-band lnb, i live in south england. Can't wait to hear your responses :D

Can't recall seeing reports of success with anything at all from that position: Surely it is way beyond the effective horizon relative to UK (inc. Scotland)?

Yeah you won't get in Scotland as the Earth is in the way. I think realistically, you can only go as far east as 68.5e.

He lives by the South Coast of England, CJ.

Sorry for the unintended misdirection - I was trying to be fair to all existing and future UK component Nations!

But the answer remains the same ;)

We will have to wait til Thursday whether Scotland is still in the UK. I think I saw on another forum a morrocan person was able to pick this up and they have a similar longitude to where I am. I guess it's one of those things where I don't know until I've tried.

Ahh, sorry! I can't see people's profiles from Tapeworm Talk on the phone, so I assumed he was oop noorf.

Not an issue in Morocco, as far as 'seeing' the satellite goes, but it's much closer to the equator, where the satellites float 36000 km above, which means they have a much wider view of the arc there.

I've looked on dish pointer websites and they say my elavation is minus which is like you said the horizon for the satellite but what if I put the dish on top of a skyscraper for example, would that work? (it's a bit far fetched)

I had the same thoughts trying to receive 75E near Bristol but it would need to be a very tall skyscraper, or a mountain to see it. But then there's a question of footprint from that satellite.

On the White Cliffs of Dover, it's theoretically possible to receive 76.5E... but only just.

78.5°E is hidden by earth curvature east of Calais. In theory the closest location to me for reception of 76.5°E is the Beachy Head road heading south towards the pub. There's a few car parks that have clear LOS to 100° @ 0.3° elevation and it's almost tempting to drag the 1.2 up there one day and have a look for 12638V on the MENA beam. This is the UK coverage of Apstar 7.
