Ha, Dont know what all the fuss is about this "C" Band Stuff !. Used Dish Pointer (Satellite View) to find where to point dish for 15W, Climbed ladder pointed Dish in general dish in the general direction of "over there" and "up a bit" fired up sdr# around the expected freq opened Jaero and Bingo, T channel decodes and aircraft on the map. easy peasy. lol :-biglaugh

Well ..I've downloaded the latest X64 version from the link above ..but after trying for well over an hour ...I just can't make VRS work with Jaeros output ..
I'm either missing something very obvious ..or I'm just too stoopid.
I figured it was as simple as adding a second 'receiver' with port setting 127.0.0.1 /30003
Enabling ads ouput in jaero port 30003 ...

Sadly no ...it is more complex than that.
Also since I added a second receiver ..and poked around in VRS settings ..I can no longer plot 'local' planes mode-s
I can fix that by reverting I guess..but that still leaves me mystified regarding adding both Mode-S and acars/jaero on a combined feed ..
Any chance of some screen grabs of various important page settings ...or just a walkthrough description of the changes needed..
I know SB has sorted this ...
but it is not obvious to me..

Try setting the receiver in VRS to your full network ip address (192.168.x.x) not local loopback 127.0.0.1 and port to what ever you have in Jaero.
And I asssume you have format set to "BaseStation"

I do indeed buddy ..BaseStation it is
it is a pita to not be able to set to internal local loopback ...as the 192.168.xx.xx will likely change on reboot ..it being provided by DHCP ...
I'll try that this evening tho'
Am I correct in assuming that what I said earlier is correct ..
A second virtual receiver has to be set up ...using port 30003 ...same as Jaeros output ?
I cant believe it is this tricky..
I can get PP to see both receiver data streams ...but not VRS.

Nooooooooooo !
Rundown of my setup (hope it makes sence. lol
3 Dishes, 1 on each Bird.
3 x SDR# running, 1 for each bird, each one has 2 Aux VFO's each on a T Chanel one on L audio Ch the other on R, each on a seperate Virtual Audio cable.
I have 3 Jaero's running , 1 for each Bird/SDR#/Virtual Audio Cable. each one set to different ports 192.168.1.55:30003 for 25E, 192.168.1.55:30013 for 54W and 192.168.1.55:30023 for 15W.
In VRS I setup 3 x Receivers named after the 3 Birds and with the ports set to correspond with the 3 Jaero's. I also setup a "Merged" feed containing all three receivers. You can then set the aircraft labels to reflect which receiver they are on as below.

From what I see Confucian ..the problem most likely lies in that I am trying to use the internal 127.0.0.1 IP address ...not the PCs assigned IP 192.168.xx.xx
That was something I didn't try ..on account it seemed unlikely to be neccessary ..all softwares running in the same PC..
like I said ..I will try this when I get home ...but..can't deny this does seem an odd design feature that would only really make sense if multiple PCs were in use on the same LAN..

I Left my PC's and Raspberry Pi's all set to DHCP but went into the Router config and reserved them all their own IP's based on their mac address, thefore their IP's never change and it works, much easier than grappling with windows networking crap which doesn't do what you want or expect it to.

VS - set a static address for your computer - Ive got statics assigned to all my network connected equipment - apart from the TM5402 where the static part of the networking screen doesnt work.

You should be able to assign permanent IP's in your router and on the equipment

receivers.jpg So
Not set up a static address as yet ...
Not that that should stop it working as I _discovered_ the assigned dhcp address 192.168.1.11
This wont change unless I reboot the pc..
I did as suggested and set a lan ip address to work with in both Jaero and VRS ...
Yes there are 2 receivers now ..both getting data ..
RTL 1090 which is still using the internal loopback 127.o.o.1 ..
well it has to ..cos RTL1090 determimes this ..
Jaero is the other receiver ..and uses 192.168.1.11 ...
I have opened VRS using this external IP instead of the internal 127 blah blah ..
I am indeed seeing 2 loys of data ..and the plane counts (tracking) does increase ..
BUT
only planes tracked by RTL1090 are actually plotted on the map in VRS..
However both Jaero data and RTL1090 data is plotted in PP ..
You can see this from the screengrabs ..
So ..what am I STILL doing wrong ?

Ok ...got the Jaero feed data linked to the plotter now ..
Didn't realise it has to be selected ...manually ..
I thought it would display BOTH feeds ..
I guess ..since this isn't automatic ..The only way to display both is a merged feed ?
Now ..how to set _that_ up ..
This is making my head hurt ..
lol

Think I have it sorted now ..
The RTL1090 feed kept disconnecting requiring a manual -reconnect- ..
Hopefully I now have that also sorted ..
unticked the 'keep alive packets' ...and allow the 60 second idle timer to auto re-connect ..
These apps definately need a manual .
lol

Also ...what _would_ be nice is the ability to physically reduce the aeroplane graphic to a similar size to that used in PP ..
The planes are physically bigger a grossly disproportionate to the map size ..
This is not a problem with a small amount of traffic ...but when you get upwards of 50 planes in the mid atlantic ...it reads like chaos..
lol

These bad boys arrived today so will be able to reconcile my setup a bit more and consign 3 Satellite Receivers back to the spares bin.

So I guess an update is in order ..
Thanks to all who helped ..
I guess my remaining issues are down to dish size ..
Currently am using a Titanium on a TD110 ..
But am getting the strong USA west coat planes on the T channel ..
I'm missing a lot I think ..as reports are few and far between ..
But on the plus side ..I now have both PP and VRS plotting those planes ..

Can one of you guys answer a very basic question for me ..
If an antenna is placed at the focus of a satellite dish ..that antenna having been designed for reception of RHCP ..without a dish ...to gather more signal.
Does it still recieve RHCP ? or is the signal direction of polarisation reversed upon reflection from the dish surface ..
ie Do I now have to modify that same antenna to receive LHCP ?
