So ..I think I found some Aero data on 54W ..
..but is low level ..and very infrequent ..so doen't really give me time to try and decode it ..
certainly doesn't appear anything like as active as 15W

Here are screen shots after a few hours on 25E with the settings above. 25E is about 6dB down on 15W as I have to look through trees. The close-up of the local area ADSB is a mess but interesting. I also noted that there is a cluster of Inmarsat planes in the middle east. There's also an unusual entry, an amphibian.

It all depends on time of day/night as to which is more active. scores here now are :-
25W = 54
15W = 31
54E = 30
At 06:00am its a totally different story ;-)

Use the preview version of VRS http://www.virtualradarserver.co.uk/Preview.aspx
and extend the timeouts, I'm using setting "stolen" from here. !!!!!
Remove from display = 36000
Remove from tracking = 72000

airspy.jpg So ..Airspy ...
Supposed to be plug n play ...but I had to go searching for drivers ..
Installed the driver ...and ran it up ..
All I can say is ..
It's working ..but lumpy as hell ..
..which is not surprising as it has maxed out the cpu at 100% ...and it never drops..
Thank gawd I have a faster PC coming ..
But ..I am having a job getting my head around the fact that I can run 2 sdr dongles and one SDRplay ...at 85% cpu ...but cannot run one solo Airspy..
???

Airspy is 12bit vs 8 bit RTL-SDR, I guess that's the extra load
If I run ADSB# & Airspy the audio to JAERO coughs and it stops decoding. That's on a 5+ yr old quad core something not i series

Not true s-band ..
SDRplay is also 12 bit ..and that runs ok..
so still confused ??
lol

Looking promising for at least a partial coverage permanent installation using the TD110

Me to. I just realised that you were using SDRplay and that is 12 bit - keyboard ahead of brain!

I had noticed that does happen ..
Sometimes Jaero does indeed stop decoding ..and occasionally crashes ..
Perhaps a future version would include the ability to turn off graphical output once you have it up and running ..
This might help save a few cycles ??

So I suppose, all Inmarsat I-3 and I-4 series carry this aero data, and none of the I-5 series?

So ..even though Air spy is maxing my cpu ...I will leave it running all afternoon ..centred on the T channel ..
No Jaero running ..just to see if the frequency drift has improved ..
Been on about 30 mins now ..and hasn't drifted at all ..
Thats impressive ..
And of course the Airspy is metal boxed ...so RFI should now be minimum..
Time to get ready to go open the shop..
;)

I think its getting out of hand ! lol
Waiting for C1W-PLL to arrive for 15W then I can start rationalizing the the hardware.
Bias Tee's instead of 3 Satellite Receivers
powered USB hub instead of 3 USB Extn Cables
Provide Mains Socket in "Dongle Room" instead of Extn Cable.

Nice play area. Try that in London green belt. What you need now are some L band feeds and a few more SDRs. I tried on L band tonight and got 18dB s/n on 1200bps and 6dB on 10500bps. I think that the dish is less than 25% illuminated.

From the FCC filing it looks like they are Ka only but with an "emergency" C band transponder

The Story so far ..
I have installed Jaero 64 bit on the new cloned O/S in the optiplex 990 ..
I am using the Optiplex 620 to drive the lnb ..but the loop out is now fed to Airspy connected to the 990..
I have downloaded what I assume to be the latest version of SDR# ..though this doesn't specifically say for 64 bit..it is running on the 990 ..
I can see the T data burst packets ..
I have installed a supposedly 64 bit version of VAC414 .. the data IS reaching Jaero ...but with a very strange lag ..even though the audio monitored at the speaker is real-time ...and is listening on the same virtual cable with a repeater ..
Something very very odd going on here ..as I still can use and jaero still interprets data on the Optiplex 620 just fine ..
In fact I'm now using the lnb on the TD110 at 15W ...and it IS doing the job ..
No ...the problem is in the new build ??
Im going to try just transporting the exact version of SDR# I was using on the 620 ... accross to the 990 ..to see if it will run ..and IF it gets the correct responses on Jaero ..
??

So solved the delayed audio mystery ..
VAC14 64bit is a pile of crap ..
Installed 32 bit ..and the odd lag went away ..
So I have been able to get data from 15W Inmarsat 3-F2 and does now register with Jaero ..in the new O/S
But I'm not convinced that SDRplay isn't a bit higher gain ..??
But then perhaps it is me not able to set up Airspy ..
this hardware is new to me ..
If you read this AceB ..
Perhaps you could do some screenshots to help me ..
One showing the main page ,,
bandwidth etc ...and perhaps more importantly ..one showing the new menu behind the 'cog' ..or at least new to me ..
The one showing sensitivity ...linearity ..and ..free ...?
For example ..if I highlight Free ..I get more gain options ...mixer and lna gain ...which can be set auto or manually ..
What do you use ??
Basically I want to get the max gain I can without issues ..on account of the limited dish size ..

As to 54 W ...
How on earth confucian gets a lock on this bird which according to N2YO is all over the place ..not just an up and down variation but seriously E/W as well ..
I suspect this bird Inmarsat 3-F4 is in serious decline ??
