As I think most of you know I am refurbishing the system over here and have reinstall the replacement corotor with new Lnbs and have now got a good Q + Signal however this is on my Satllink meter 7009 so the dish end is fine .The problem is when I plug the same plug into the Echostar is show Zero on a TP scan ?

Satellite being used to cal receiver is Astra 4A / Sirius 4 .

Now we all know the AD-3000 only receives MP2 but before on the old quad band LNB it was able to to show me Q + Signal levels on H 12.303 channels like Bootstrap Maste , Discovery Hung , CNBC J Leno , Universal TV , Optimistic TV , Disc_Italy Test and TCM Cartoon all these channels are powerVu encrypted but you could still see there Q + Signal so it was useful for tweaks on skew and dish position but now I have fitted the new SMW LNB I get Zero signal or Q on a TP search . So I dont know if I need to make any changes on the software settings on the receiver at the moment its set for Type 3 which should be for a quad band LNB same setting it was for the old quad band Lnb so it should work on the receiver .

So I will take some pictures showing the dish install page and Lnb settings + what I am getting on the sat meter .

Maybe I may have blown the fuse on the RX so I may have lost my 18 volts form the receiver I will check that the LNB has power at dish I do have a spare Echostar so could use that .( Checked we have 18 volts )

You may remember I bought that Technomate TM-5402 but that has no dish or skew control .

The whole point of keeping the Echostar online was so I can use that for dish + skew control other wise its back to buying a second hand ADC1

So any thoughts anyone on why this SMW Lnb is not working with the AD-3000IP ? Yes I could bolt back the old Quad band Lnb but I dont see any reason why the SMW wont work with this receiver as it works fine on the sat meter yes I know the Satllink meter does receive Mpeg 2 + 4 But as I said I should see Q + Sig levels on the Echostar and I am not .

So I am not why I am no longer showing any Signal or Q on the Echostar since I changed over the LNB unless its got some thing to do with LNB settings but as you can see settings are at Lnb 3 same as the previous quad band Lnb . If the settings are ok then the only option is to change out the Echostar or return back to the old LNB .

Any thoughts from any one ?

Incorrect LO frequency?
What does the TM-5402 detect when you run a blind scan?

Have you tried adjusting the skew setting?

Thanks MB Incorrect LO Frequency but on What ? The Echostar you mean ?

The dish end is fine Ozumo because the meter is connected and showing good Q + Sig but when you connect to receive there is nothing

Just connect the LNB to the TM-5402 and run a full band blind scan see what it picks up, that is a good starting point instead of messing about with that AD3000.

I think the LNB has multiple L.O. frequencies?
You need the Echostar LNB setting to be matched up to the LNB L.O. frequency for the frequency range you are testing.

I can do a blind scan with the meter without any receiver and can see a few hundred channels , With the Satllink 7009 you can see all clear and encrypted ones . But if I strip out the Echostar how am I going to move the Dish or Skew contoller this is why it was good that I can see Sig + Q on the Echostar .

Yes You maybe right because I am seeing 2 x BootStrap Maste channels 1 is 12.303 H + Other is 10.752 H sounds like I will have to change the settings in the Echostar LNB set menu but I thought it was Type 3 which is for a Q band same before .

That sounds like the AD3000 LNB configuration is not correct for the frequency you are trying to detect. Check the L.O. options on the LNB label then match the AD3000 LNB configuration to it.

I am not sure but I think the LNB you have allows for 4 L.O. settings. If that is the case and you need 4 L.O. settings to cover the 10700 to 12750 frequency range you will be changing the L.O. quite a lot if scanning multiple satellites.

So to receive 12303H on the Echostar the 'LNB Freq. High' setting needs to be 11300 & 'LNB Freq. Band Control' needs to be 13/18v. Make sure to press ok on the remote before exiting the LNB setting menu or the settings won't be stored.

Yes that does make sense I will see what LNB settings there are in the menu and see if they can be changed . I will take some picture to give you some Idea of what is available on the LNB menu should that be the case you have have to type your own settings .

Ok LNB settings on the receiver LNB menu are :-
Type 1 Universal Low Universal High
Type 2 5150 Low 5150 High
Type 3 9750 Low 10750 High
Type 4 9750 Low 10600 High
Type 5 9750 Low 10750 High
Type 6 11300 Low 11300 High
Type 7 10000 Low 10000 High
Type 8 9750 Low 11300 High

The Spec of the SMW LNB Type R is

9.75 (10.70-12.75 GHz), 10.00 (10.95-12.75 GHz), 10.41 (10.70-12.75

I can see nothing that goes from 9.75 - 12.75 it might be a case that it only will work on the old LNB that is a QUAD band also sounds a bit strange I cant see any thing on the old LNB due to its age .

Should cover all available frequency ranges I think.

Ok will try from
Type 1 Universal Low Universal High
Type 2 5150 Low 5150 High
Type 3 9750 Low 10750 High
Type 4 9750 Low 10600 High
Type 5 9750 Low 10750 High
Type 6 11300 Low 11300 High
Type 7 10000 Low 10000 High
Type 8 9750 Low 11300 High

And will let you know how I get on but the gain on the new LNB is far better than the old but the reading was before I cleaned the waveguide out
Old Lnb Q 86 Sig 43 with a load of corrosion
New Lnb Q86 Sig 62

I wonder what LNB settings are on the TM-5402 ?

May need 2 satellites for each position, one set with LNB type 3 & one with type 4. (The LNB type settings are just presets that you can edit, so you could set them to type 1 & 2 if you wished, just remember to press ok after you edit anything or it won't save) :)

Thanks Ozumo Sounds like its going to be fun but I will try all the LNB settings and see if I get lucky but never had this problem before when changing from one QUAD band LNB to some other its a pity I cant read what the spec is from the old QUAD old receiver settings were Type 3 9750 Low 10750 High But I will give Type 8 a go then try the others .maybe MB might be able to recognise it but its about 25 years old

your LNB is quite unusual ! in time i had an viaccess echostar 3600 , current LNB are with 10ghz/10.75ghz also 9.75/10.75 LO
in high band and with 10.75 you can reach 12750ghz at 2000mhz in bis band.
in your case you have to send 22K every time but 14v/18v are in the opposite way of usual !
two questions:
where have you bougth this singular LNB ?
why don t buy a 9.75/10.6 LNB?

an other solution (my solution !)

less 100 euros !!!

Yes, that is the option I would go for.
Forget the SMW LNB and use a WR75 to C120 adapter then fit an Invacom C120 LNB with twin probes. It is much easier to manage for scanning
