At last getting a chance to test the device (decorating, holidays interrupting).

Falling at the first hurdle - can't get past the Parameters error, whichever Band I try. The error necessitates my having to reboot the PC every time, as I can't clear the "Parameter Is Incorrect" box.

Any ideas chaps? Probably something obvious :confused

Tell me what you are doing! Which parameter are you inputting? What value did you select? Did you select a COM-port, especially the correct COM-port?

You never have to reboot the PC because of my program (or any program): just press simultaenously CRTL+SHIFT+ESC to open the task manager and kill the offending task!

Vitor

Hello Vitor, thanks for your rapid reply, and remedy! I chose the wrong COM port, COM 1 instead of COM 4

Working OK so far now. More haste, less speed!

Another thing Vitor, my Activation code ends on December 31. I did send an email a week or two back asking for a permanent code (I had sent a donation). Any chance of one some time?

Not sure which Band you selected, but, if you are trying to scan the normal Sat bands, you have somehow set the incorrect "End Frequency" - should be 2150MHz.

Just noticed that jeallen, will correct that. Nevertheless it swept a section of the band OK for the purposes of checking after changing to a working COM port.

There's no stopping...

New version avaliable:

2016-12-28:
  • Improved GUI: orange fields cannot be edited, blue field can be edited
  • All numeric input fields (except in Setup tab) are now input through input form and values are validated/checked
Forgot to mention in the change log, that I improved the COM-port detection: if wrong COM port is set or no device present, a single error message is shown and then the software aborts. Upon a restart, the COM setting can be corrected. No more Task Manager!

By the way, the software looks much better now, all input fields open a propper frequency/percentage/timer input form and the values are checked, so that the software doesn't abort or do silly things.

I colour coded the fields: salmon red means that you cannot edit those values, light blue means you can click the field and change the value.

Finally I improved the centre frequency input (forgot to mention that in the change log, too - need to add that later on). When inserting a centre frequency, the software will check against lower and upper frequency limits of the selected device and adjust the span as required.

Example: Start Frequency = 1000MHz, End Frequency= 2000MHz, Span=1000MHz. You now select 4000MHz as Centre Frequency and what happens is that you will get Start Frequency=3600MHz, End Frequency=4400MHz and Span=800MHz. Why? Because you cannot have a Centre Frequency=4000MHz AND a Span=1000MHz, because the device only goes up to 4400MHz. That was previously totally wrong... I'm glad nobody complained...

Hope you guys like the looks and feel of the new version - I certainly do!

Regards,
Vitor

He certainly is .... ive got a request to give him something to think about :D
Vitor, iv'e dug out an oldie but goodie IBM ThinkPad T40 that runs Win XP Pro that has .net3.5 installed that would be ideal for the software .... unfortunately when trying to open the software it gives me the error message "Not a valid Win 32 application" which is a shame. Any way around this Vitor ?.
Regards

Edit: ... just downloaded the latest --- very nice.
