Doing my usual ebay browse and came accross THIS Nokia 9780S which has branding for VIASAT and has a viewing card too, so, is this receiver anything like the 9800S and what position does VIASAT come from?

Ta!!! :D

I just found it on lyngsat (through google, just trying to find out what language it is)...:-ohmy

As for the box, as it has a card I guess it has built in Videoguard decryption (Is that NDS or something else?), which the 9800S doesn't (it has Viaccess)...

I might have a bid on it now my curiosity's been peaked... :D

Won't be much good to you without a sub card.

It has a VIASAT card with it though, not that I'd actually use it, I just want to know if it's like my 9800S or not... :D

looks like one of the viaccess boxes, around the same time as itv digital.

The 9800s is the Viaccess one, and I believe the 9850T is Seca/Seca2...

Just found an instruction book for the 9780S and it has no Cam slot and the software looks the same as the 9800S, so without a card it's probably good for an FTA box, whereas my 9800S has a Cam slot so has expansion capabilities... :D

In my honest opinion, I think 9870 is not good for FTA because receiver is most probably married to Viascat card :D

9800 is better.
