Hi

Does anyone know how to set up quicktime to view video streaming from the dreambox to the computer?

I can set it up in VLC by entering the URL as
http://[my DB IP address]:31339/PAT,PMT,VPID,APID,PCRPID

So for BBC world it is http://[IP address]:31339/0,0403,00a3,005c,0037

I have the MPEG2 player loaded and quicktime can play MPEG2 videos ok but it does not recognise the dreambox stream.

I have also noticed that VLC can play the stream with the source as /dev/stdin.

If anyone has played about with this and got further than me please let me know.

I use Camino - Firefox as I cannot get Safari to connect to the Dreambox.

In the Dreambox browser window I click on the 'vpid' link and download.

On the download icon I use the 'get info' option and change the default 'Open with' option to VLC. You can set this to the default for this file type and you will not have to change it again.

VLC will then stream without problem.

I just tried changing the 'Open with' to Quicktime but no joy.

If I get a chance I will play around with it at the weekend.

OS X - Tiger 10.4.1 - Quicktime 7.0.1 - Camino 0.8.4

Thanks for the recommendation Gameboy. I couldn't get Safari to connect either so I've downloaded Camino 0.8.4 and shall try it this weekend.

I wonder if 'open with' would work with the software MPEG_Streamclip_1.3.1.dmg? I have the mpeg2 playback component for quicktime so it's worth a try.

So many things to try - it's great ain't it
