Does VU+ makers have a business address and or phone number?????? Web page does not supply such info....I have used their e-mail address to make an enquiry about the VU+Solo before I bought the VU+ duo and have not received any reply.......Which is a bit worrying not replying to e-mails........So their registered business address would be usful in case a situation arose that I needed to contact them............

They're made in Korea. Any contact would be best through your supplier

If you look there are specialist Forums for this box. Google will tell you.

Suggest use ethernet through the Mains circuit. Need to be connected all the time I'm told

malcolm, google for powerline adaptors - thats the name for these doohickerties that aileen is talking about. They send the ethernet signals over the mains wiring so no unsightly cables everywhere :)

Another query. Another puzzle. Been reading instruction from the net how to install an internal hard drive. At the hard drive initiation stage the instructions say go intt menu>set up>system>harddisc>initializatio.

On my VU+ when I get to system there is no option labelled "harddrive in order to get to initialization.......

My question is should there be or does it not appear until aharddisk is actually installed!!!!!!!!!

I plugged in a usb flash drive (nothing on it) to see if the VU+ would find it.........No luck.......

Thank's....Have to hope my supplier doesn't go out of business in these difficult times...

I rather suspect that if I asked my supplier for the VU+ contact number or address they would not give it.......

Many years agp i purchased an 8mm format video recorder......It went wrong just out of warranty (i had it insured) and I took it back to the shop who would then refer it on to the makers service centre........I had a problem giving technical detais to the insurance company and required details from the service centre........Dealer would not oblige with any address or phone number.......Dealer was also closing down their big local store within weeks.........It took those weeks of phone call after phone call to get those details......

I won't mention either dealer or brand of machine but both are main stream high street brands.......Korea is a long way to go..........:)

Would any of the main high street electrical goods suppliers stock ethenet cable 16ft or more.......I assume the connection to the box is only temporary for puposes of uploading stuff to the box....Doesn't need to be left connected does it. If it does I'll need a good deal longer cable to patch around the skirting boards.....
To get the most from your box you need to leave it connected 24/7. That way the box can do things like download a full EPG, rather than just relying on "now and next".

Cable is without question the best option, but also Powerline adaptors as AS says, aka HomePlugs, will do the job. Cable is best because it works at higher transmission rates and doesn't consume power. Wireless is the worst option by far (even wireless n).

It needs to be there first; can't initialise something that doesn't exist.

Thank's. In that case I would probably need around 26ft of cable for a neat permanent installation........

Spent last night sorting the dish position at 9deg. It was well out. Sorted now and position stored....Installer said I should have the tuner set on single lnb as I am not using DISqet..However having tried that the box as before crashes and will only let me set "the positioner" option. Seems to be working fine on that setting so i'll just let well alone.

I think the situation is the software has not been written for someone who uses an independant positioner and a single lnb on a reciever with two tuners and designed for DISQ and or multiple lnb settings........At least I hope that is the reason for it persistanly crashing if any other dish/lnb options are selected.......

No that's not true. You can set up 32 LNBs on each tuner with any combination of DiSEqC 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, and USALS control without any problem.

If you post your exact aerial configuration I can help you out with your tuner settings.

Tuner "A"

Configuration mode "simple"
Mode "positioner"
Longitude 005.100
east
Latitude 050.767
north

Tuner "B" not connected

Now the problem is if I go into any other setting option such as advanced and select any other lnb setting the box will crash when I try to memorise or come out of a choice I want to change. It then say's Sorry..software error along witha load of text that stays on screen for only a few seconds and then the box goes back to reloading enigma 2

I have seperate external positioner
I have just a single universal lnb

Is your positioner one that directly drives a 36V motor? In that case you don't use the Diseqc 1.2 settings, just 1.0 or 1.1.

Yes that's correct.........But as I say if i attempt any other settings the box crashes......and reverts back to the setting stated above......

If I go into the "advanced" option it lists the following

Configuration mode "advanced"
Satellite "choice"
LNB "not available"

It's the LNB not available that puzzles me. I can open up LNB options from that point but then if I try to come out of it with or without changes the box will crash

It crashes at the point when a menu box appears with 4 options

YES
NO
Yes to all
No to all

No idea what if any to select but it does not matter because the VU+ freezes and options cannot be reversed using the exit button. Then the VU+ throws up software error message and details followed by enigma 2 reloading.......

Is it a V-box (I asked somewhere above but still don't know)? Has the positioner got a remote? With your old receiver were you controlling the dish manually with the external positioner or did the control signal come from the receiver (via the positioner)?

No it's not a V box. It's a Pace positioner with remote control. Yes with my old reciever I was controlling the dish manually with external positioner just as I am doing now by retaining the old set up for now........

1.0 and 1.1 are for switches, not positioners. If he has a V-box being controlled from the receiver that is 1.2.

Anyway the first thing we need to do is figure out exactly what he does have, after that sorting out the config will be easy.

Ok, does it say DiSEqC on the front somewhere? Or in the manual?

Llew haven't you got a Pace positioner?

Ok, now we've cleared that up here is your config (for the time being we are just going to set up one satellite... and one tuner)...

And if it asks if it should delete anything just say :-Nooo.
