I can easily get 58W with an 80cm in North Yorkshire.

ISTR theres an occasional data feed reported on the European beam on 61W. The problemn with the far west birds is most of them are transmitting into the USA, and theres not much of any interest on any European beams.

If you are hoping to get Stateside TV forget it - its not possible direct via satellite.

Not possible without some C-band kit, and waiting for the odd windows when the encryption is turned off.

However theres a couple on 19E!

Telesur from Venezuala & Cuba.

45 west is as far as my tv channel list goes 58 west was a good source for Sports feeds about 4 years ago alas nothing these days as the South American feeds have migrated to 10 east & 12.5 west,
There is some South American content on 30 west & 24.5 west but most of it is encrypted these days.

NSS-806 @ 40.5° West in C-band you can receive many channel TV from South America .
I recommend large antenna pfa 1.80m

but you would need a massive C band dish to get it regularly .

Freak reception is probably due to ground control moving the satellite a similar situation happened with some of the South African beams on 36 east when I was able to scan in about 200 tv channels from Multi Choice Africa last year only to find them all gone the next day.

I did a list of strongest transponders on my AzBox in July 2011. There will have been lots of changes since then e.g. the data transmission on 61 is gone and RASD on 45 has changed frequency. Our friend William on the ***** forum keeps an up to date list of strongest transponders from his location in SE England.

As DXhound says the useful data transponder on 61W has now gone and when I scanned the slot midweek so had the carrier that was up a few weeks ago. Xooxm, if you want a general selection of South American channels take a look at _http://www.lyngsat.com/nss806.html and _http://www.lyngsat.com/intel55.html both of these will give results using a 1.2m PF on C band.

Xooms current - advertised - setup consists of a wavefrontier 90 dish, which is going to stop reception of much of what has been proposed.

His location may also be out of reach of the more Western satellite footprints.
