I am looking at taking my current setup off the current 2" pole, coach bolted into a big paving slab and mounting it to a more substantial NPRM. At some point when I find one, I want to go up to 1-1.1m dish and I don't think the current mount will take it. The dish and motor rock on the pole quite substantially in the wind which isn't ideal.

Some of the 4 slab NPRM's I have seen online look like they would suffer the same fate in the wind. They're basically for minidishes.

What ideally do I need? Would this do the job? STD NPR Mount 42 x 39 Base

If the paving slab is solid and doesn't wobble you could get add two lengths of steel angle, joined to the pole with exhaust clamps and then bolted to the slab via right angle brackets. Mount them at 90° to each other and it will be solid, and much cheaper than that NPRM. I used a similar setup for many years using a 6ft pole and a CM 1.2m, not the neatest looking installation but it worked well.

It is an 800x800 slab so it's not going anywhere, it's just flexing at the base of the 1m pole. I can lower it down the pole which stops the rocking but then I lose the eastern sats after 28.2e.

Have you got any photos of how you had the pole supported? I think I understand what you mean, it would be nice to see it.

This NPRM doesn't need it but just to show how it would be attached to a pole (I forgot the washer):

Then at the bottom I used a bracket like this which I got cheaply from a local farm supply shop.

That’s a great idea. Thanks for the photos!

What did you use to fix down that 90 degree bracket?

An M8 coach bolt into a plastic plug, used a 10mm drill bit IIRC,

Great stuff I will give it a go this weekend if the weather is ok.

How many did you have on your pole? Just the one?

I used two at 90° to each other, one at north/south and the other east/west.

Ok great. I’ll give two a go, hopefully that will stiffen it up and stop the rocking. If not I will end up going with 4.

Thanks for your help!
