why won't my reciever work

i have jut got an 80cm dish pointing at atlantic bird 5w for french free to air channels but my humax 5400 reciever is not picking up a signal. i know the dish is in the right direction because i have a triax reciever and this is picking up the channels. can anyone please tell me why my humax reciever will not pick up the signal on 5w but will pick up signals on my 60cm sky dish for hotbird or astra.

what channel have you tried on the humax

How old actually is your 5400? When was it last used?

Even if it is fully functional, have you checked that the cable from the LNB is properly connected? F connectors can be tricky little blighters.

Make sure that you are monitoring a valid transponder.
Which one are you using?
Do you have any Diseqc switching set up, or is the LNB connected straight to the LNB?
