Yah that would do fine if thats all you can get, and that clip will work great, do a couple of wraps for the USB cable through it.

But the screen stuff should be aluminum, as the heat sink is aluminum, dis-similar metals can cause other problems.

I have popped that ferrite ring in on the wx pi. Also ordered another usb extension cable for the dump1090 pi. I will pop another ferrite ring on that.

Only trouble is I have to wait until tomorrow now for a passing weather sat........

Fingers Crossed I haven’t hurt anything.

Cheers - Ive got one on order :)
I have a few of his aerials now. Plus one that arrived broken. I sent him a message telling him the problem he asked me for a photo of the issue so he could improve his later models and sent me another aerial to replace my broken one.

A very genuine helpful chap, I have another adsb antenna in the post :-wow and another one to pop up at some time plus that will need another pi img.

I'm still working on the autocad drawings for my MK-10 antenna, good project for those that want to try it out.

All you need is some PVC pipe stuff, a TV antenna baulin, aluminum rod, and plate, a termial block, some EMT conduit and fittings for a mast, a TV coax ground block and some RG-6 quad coax and connectors.

Cheers - Ive got one on order :)

And delivered today - thats damn good service! 5 days delivery from receipt of order email to arriving at work. :) And thats from Slovakia :D

Its been quickly lashed up & Im now waiting for NOAA 15 to come over to see what sort of signal I get. The spectrum around 137MHz on sdr# is already looking cleaner though

First impressions - very favourable compared to the cats whisker antenna. The pager qrm isnt eliminated completely but it is vastly reduced. Im not getting the huge modulation overload of the front end that caused distortion spikes right up and down the spectrum. Result a much cleaner image.

The far north & south sensitivity may be down a little, but up north Im still getting usable signals down to 3 degrees elevation.

Give me a few minutes & I'll pull up comparisons taken from the same time last night and this evening

N-18 on the Slovakian turnstile this evining

22nd May 1942 utc The increased dead zone at the southern end is due to this pass being slightly further east & a low hill getting in the way here.

Ive already got 2 on it Chris - one outside the window (just clipped round the coax as this is the smaller one) and a bigger one on the usb extension from the dongle to the laptop (looped 3 times round the ring. Both images have those ferrites on them.

Had to temporarily put the plug adapters back in for a day or so, now I have run an outdoor Ethernet cable to the garage and taken the plug adapters out. It now has a feed directly to the router, so 1090/wx should now improve.

NOAA 18 20:05 tonight, after hardwiring the garage.
