Yes, I'm currently looking at the tuner failures of the TBS6925 card kindly donated by Pipedream, since it has the ST chipset combination

Your first port of call would be to interrogate the Minitiuner, and then look at reverse engineering for a tuner from the list of compatbles (Sharp/Serit/Samsung)

I'm sorry I have to post again some pictures with the low symbol rate on DM920 4K,but I didn't find them on one of the topic. But I think it's worth knowing that the DM920 4k model with the Si2166D tuner is the best tuner for locking low symbol rate.I don't think there's another reciever to do that at present. If you know of this, let's post here.
Zgemma H9S has same si2166D tuner (same as Octagon SF8008), but blind scan finds zilcho on the ZGEMMA, but Sf8008 finds everything thrown at it.

I think the Octagon SF8008 with an OpenATV image is probably up there with the best receivers for blind scanning.
CrazyScan with a TBS6903 card is also a good combination as it can show signals that are present but below the signal level required for a lock.

Despite its age I think that when it comes to the blindscan the "old" Openbox sx6 is almost unbeatable.
Only the DM900 and SiLabs2169D do this too, I believe.
Find frequencies with a sr of 274 through the blindscan, I don't think the 8008 can do that.
It reads these frequencies, but find them through the blindscan ??

The blind scan of the 8008 is limited to symbol rates of between 1000 and 60000 in the set up.

Im sure that if somebody asked Octagon nicely they might consider an upgrade to drop the lower limit at some point.

thats not the case though - 900 is possible (China Radio) and theres reports of others getting lower than that.

Yes, but that would be down to the approximation of a 1000 lower limit.
If the search parameters are modified to include one - further - decimal point then you could get the receiver to perform to the actual limits of the hardware.

I get it,you want to be sure every time you want to lock low symbol rates below 1000 Ms with a receiver that's not made for such transponders!
However,we must know that these receivers with many media functions have demodulators/tuners because their manufacturers have used the latest reception technologies appeared in the last few years for various functions, such as MIS,S2X ext, etc.,and among other things, the reception of programs tv/radio with very low rates symbol.Their implementation was purely commercial and not professional. That's why the developers took this into account, and on a case-by-case basis, some have invested a little more in the program/images to exploit a little the capacity of these demodulators for the reception of parameters difficult to detect with tuners of the older generation.
And the most affordable tuner is the one from Silab or others. And although these demodulators/tuners can perform many functions, they do not cover the entire spectrum of receptions, among other things,to accurately detect transponders at a distance of only a few KHz,as there are many who have radio programs with low symbol rates.Rhetorically ask,how can you lock, say, the 5 TRT radio programs at 42.0E that have the same symbol rates with such tuners/receivers,as DM or Octagon?
And if we add the fact that 99% of consumers have antennas only for the reception of commercial TV programs, for the reception of which these receivers have been thought and produced.Or for the reception of these radio programs you must have a strong signal, which many antennas can not provide. In fact, their transmission is intended only for TV/radio providers.
But the most important argument, as many users who work in this environment know,is that for apps/image developmentrs is the implementation of functions with media content,as has DM920UHD and many other devices of this kind.
In other words, this media content counts first and not reception. For the last you need professional devices that ensure your reception and stability of the signal.
So you're right in the end if what I said above is true,i.e."misses them no doubt...?"

Interesting experiment here on 16E..Two receivers, the SF8008 with the user define software and the DM900 with the Dream Elite Image. Both have Silabs tuners both off the same dish LNB etc. The dreambox has breakup on a BBC feed the Octagon is displaying no breakup at all and found a Sky News feed which the DM completley missed in Blind Scan...16E.jpgP1010016.JPGP1010015.JPG

thank you - it was just a question, i wasnt trying to be an annoying smart arse - i was just trying to confirm if the screen shots were from a manual scan or not.

Howmany has asked the same question for the 4008 do you think ? they never made it .
The 4008 was an entry level 4K machine, testing the water but having addons as accessories (hard drive capability/wifi etc.) plus the drag of a PCMCIA slot.

I would suggest the SF8008 is a more profitable beast and now has an almost three year following. Octagon are also listening to criticism and working on issues.

Perhaps a beta testing bit of software, unstable but pushing the envelope.

is there a chance the feed wasnt live at the time, or did you run the scans at the same time....which is quicker.
