11330H - new image, PLS entered using remote control, no signal in DefineOS. 13dB signal using Open ATV.

Adding new transponders 11330H and 11492V with the remote control with just the PLS code isn't working, the receiver doesn't recognise the signal, I think because not all of the required parameters are recorded satellites.xml, lamedb etc. I tried using editors to change satellites.xml with no luck because the contents are reset by the receiver.

Does it work for you?

Many thanks, I now have some progress.
I'm using the previous version of Define 1.06.47 but maybe it doesn't matter.

11330H - I can now scan this in! ^_^ I was using ID 174526 but now I have changed the entry to 242965. All the main websites that list transponders say Gold 174526, what type of code is 242965, is this unique to Define?

11422H - Understood.
11492V - I think I need to change the code but I don't know how to get the new code?
 
Does anyone here gave an SF8008 Supreme from WoS, pre-set up as Freesat PVR?

My First generation HDR is rather old now (yet showing no sign of impending failure) - Nevertheless, I am thinking about what to do when inevitably it does die, and I am aware that the Arris boxes are not exactly up to snuff, so an 8008, suitably fettled, looks like a candidate
 
Hi Guys, This Thread IS huge, I decided to buy the old version of SF8008 but I still don't know which version is the best, new or old?
only difference is the tuners and the M.2 slot, but which is better?

I have both... not much difference... but with the M.2 slot the Supreme is the obvious choice.

I would suggest it depends on how many hours the older receiver has been in use, overall condition, and the selling price

You can add a 512GB MicroSD card I think, but signal is what matters in my opinion, unless you must have a super fast and large nvme ssd.
I got mine used for 100$, the new one was sold about 150$, used for 2 years, excellent condition, only some rc keys have the wearing off labels.
They say that the Si tuner of the old model is better for weak signals but its not confirmed yet, too many contradicting reports
I need better tuners for fringe reception.
 
I've used SF8008 Combo for the last 6 years, sold DM920 inbetween and bought SF8008 Twin two years ago.
Both Octagons are older models, I prefer them for SiLabs 2166D tuners.

Same here, the Silabs 2166D tuners are definately more receptive, especially within the lower range SR as opposed to the Avalink tuners fitted in the 'SUPREME' model.
 
The next octagon SF 8008 supreme Version 3 is announced (no date yet) with Silabs 2166D tuner, which is not the case for versions 1 and 2 and with the characteristics of the other Supreme:

SSD SLOT internal integration of M.2 hard drives.

Bluetooth 5.1, use of a blue tooth Octagon remote control, so 2 usable remote controls including the original provided

All this is to be confirmed, this Version 3 has been mentioned since November 14, 2024

Avalink is more suitable for IP transponders that Silabs does not even detect (or has problems with).
 
They should update kernel. Edision used to do it frequently, but even that has ended long time ago..

What are the use cases of such IP transponders?

I have emailed them but they only confirmed that the tuners will be SiLabs and they didn't care about my recommendation.

They should increase RAM size and upgrade to DDR4, add support for SATA SSDs, add support for Android TV multi boot(other STBs with same CPU and SoC support Android TV), CI+ slot for custom CAMS.

I noticed that Vu+ receivers are dying because of the lack of updates, the Chinese are taking over now, this could happen to Octagon too, they have separate products for enigma and android, why buy two boxes when you can use one.
 
In particular, they are used for satellite modems and distribution directly in IP format. The biggest problem in STB is the choice of the right Modcode.
