Hi all. Before I start checking all the cabling/dish position) LNB I just wanted to check it's not the normal summer breakup of signal I have seen in previous years. Are people in central Europe (I'm in Frankfurt am Main Germany) seeing a drop out of signal at the moment?
Reception report: Gilbertini 1.25m dish / Inverto black / Amstrad DX895 / 15m cable run. Signal quality at around 60% when watching BBC News channel HD on Astra 2G UK spot beam (I did have to tweak my skew very slightly as previous skew was getting a break-up) in Frankfurt-am-Main, Germany...
Reception report: Set up my new Gilbertini 1.25m dish / Inverto black / Amstrad DX895 / 15m cable run in my new apartment in Frankfurt-am-Main Germany yesterday afternoon. Signal quality at 80-90% on both 2E and 2F according to the Sky+ box readings. Clear skies though so will need to see how...
Welshman - I've been holding off buying a new dish for my system in FFM (Bornheim). With my current 60cm I get all BBC but the 5 channels are intermittent. How is your 80 cm dish with rain fade? Would 1 meter or even 1.25 meter be preferable or overkill do you think?
I seem to be really on the fringe in Frankfurt. With a 1m dish I get ALL of the BBC channels but lost the Channel 5 stable except 5HD. I plan to wait until the new satellites are up and running before upgrading to a new dish size.
I saw this today - anyone know if this is going to be of use to us fringe viewers?

The BBC today announced it will launch five new subscription-free HD channels...
Thanks for the suggestions - as I suspected this will not be easy. However, I think I have an alternative plan that might work. I can easily add a very short cable feed to another part of the house. I then add the Iverto lnb model which has both a unicable port and a legacy port; the Sky/Tivo...
Having invested in a new HD TV I am wondering how to populate it with HD material. I do not want to pay for SKY HD so I thought I would go the freesat plus route but I still want to maintain my sky subscription (with accompanying TiVo) for the sport. In addition I live in a house where the...
Thanks - I already have a slingbox so I suspect this is the route I will take but it still would be good to know costs as I might (although it would be pushing it) be able to persuade my employer to pay for the dish and installation as part of my moving costs ;)
Hi
I'm moving to Nicossia from Germany for 6 months. I'm trying to decide whether its more cost effective to go with a slingbox / internet solution and leave my current installation in Germany or to move all my kit and install a dish (4m?) when I find somewhere to live in Nicossia. Can anyone...
Currently have a bog standard sky installation here in Germany (using a grundig box; 85cm dual LNB dish). The box is showing its age and am considering upgrading to SKY+ or HD. I would source the box from e-bay and then get the SKY+ features switched on. From reading the threads here I see I...
