Hi guys,

4 years ago Analog transmission from Astra was closed. I've prepaired an article in Russian about analog switch-off and restored my recordings from removed YouTube channel.
If you're interested, here is Playlist with my recordings: Analog satellite shutdown (chronology) - YouTube

Video about my recording setup (sorry for poor English, I had no speaking practice at all and it was difficult to tell anything):
And two articles (in Russian, sorry):

There I've written some words about myself, described my setup (with photos) and tried to restore the whole shutdown chonology process.
I hope it will be interesting for you!

Best regards,
Alexander.

Thanks for sharing the video. Your English is very good no need to apologise. I used to record satellite radio via a Nokia analogue receiver to hifi stereo VHS tapes too. Fun times.

Молодец, классные статьи!

BTW, Astra 19.2e was not the last satellite in the world to carry analogue. That accolade belongs to, I believe, Brazil where they carried some analogue transmission up until at least early last year. Can't remember if it was C band or Ku and it may still be transmitting now. @Vipersan, do you recall any more details?

Edit: found them. Plenty still transmitting.

Star One C2 at 70.0°W - LyngSat

Footprint over Brazil so unlikely to be visible in Europe, even though I can "see" the satellite from my back garden.

According Lyngsat, Star One C2 at 70.0°W still has plenty analog PAL television in C-band:

I don't think VS has a clear view that low to the horizon.

But how is he going to take screenshots?

Russia still has a very active terrestrial analogue service if you want me to take some screenshots of wavy moving pictures?
