hi --
Encouraged by the result using a 1.2 dish in march this year -- http://www.satellites.co.uk/forums/topic/157980-685-east-test-setup/ ) post 22,--
and rising to the challenge - i decided to get the Alcoa 1.8 down onto the yard and set it up for C band and point it at 68.5 east (elevation 2.4 here) as with ku band here, the signal slowly rises and then fades back to zero .
i tried all 3 C band l.n.b.,s that i have - and an old chaparral co rotor with the plate removed --- it gave the best result - a full 1.0db better - than the others .
the signal from 68.5 E reached its best peaks around mid afternoon and i got 2 short periods of lock of about half a min - just long enough to grab a picture of the 9.0 db lock - and scan the channels from 4155 V 22500 into the receiver .(encrypted channels , -- just my luck).
still getting signal tonight but just around 6.0 db now at best.
A lot of time spent today for a small result - but it was enjoyable -- l.o.l.
regards ----
