I am clearing out the garage and have found a couple of oscilloscopes that I cant recall where they came from.

They have a very big display and lots of knobs on them. Probably early transistorised, putting them in the early 70s.

I do remember they had the same fault in each, (no EHT line ?) and they light up when plugged in, but thats all.

I will take a couple of pictures when I pull them from the box, but if anyone wants them, they are yours.

I live about 10 miles south of Heathrow.

Er, no. I've been too reliant on people winning stuff and then not turning up (quite often after I've planned around them).

Anyways the sort of price things of this nature go for on auction sites means the eBay cost probably exceeds the sale value.

These are Jerrold Texscan Oscilloscopes, model number AL-40. Complete as far as I can gather, even the push buttons and dials are smooth in operation so I doubt they are too badly affected by storage.

Last calibration sticker on one confirms a date of 1985, and they were orignally used at Marconi, Frimley.

Will post a couple of pictures tomorrow.

I've never heard of it either, not a "usual name".

But, from those pics, "corp" is obviously USA, and a google search will show quite a few old Texscan scopes. Looks like early 1980s stuff.

The present website is: http://www.texscan.com/ , but different stuff now.

The only specification I have is 230V and 0-350 MHz.

As they're spectrum analysers, they're not really suitable for use as oscilloscopes, i.e. checking waveforms of a defined frequency.
I suspect they were used to sweep and line up a set of IF frequencies in VHF radio transmitters/ receivers etc.

Probably 'home on the range' O-Ha

That's the frequency domain (speccy) as opposed to the time domain ('scope)

:-rofl2

OK Llew, you got me that time, must admit I never heard of it! Sounds interesting, any more details?

However, I can remember Cossors being in widespread general use (I'm not just webtrawling).

Sorry I didn't recognise that was a spectun analyser, should have, as it did look like a funny 'scope, but just accepted what Hopper said.

As you say, scope draws a pic of amplitude/time, and analyser of power/frequency.
