For curiosity's sake I shifted Carl another few degrees to look at 58W ..
As expected this is much more difficult and it may be that Carl doesn't track the arc perfectly at such extremes.
Having said that I have locked 61W in ku plus a couple of European beams from EchoStar at 63/64W
So more likely just a lack of gain issue from such a small dish at low elevation in C band
Only 1 transponder locked in H
4040 sr 26590 fec 1/2 NRK mux fta 2.7db
but Christina only locked 4

Vertical scan Christina 7 transponders
Vertical scan Carl ..sadly none.
So to conclude ..58W in the UK is still the sole domain of the BUD
Not my Christina of course ..
She's Big and she's a Dish..but I can't call her Ugly.

Good results on 55W.

Some strong signals in there, so your system is working well.

I think Carl is getting wobbly in his old age - like the rest of us.

Thanks for taking the time to scan it Costa ..
TBH I'm just glad I get to see this one at all..
It being so low on the arc here..
At my location even with clear line of sight from an elevated position say the roof of my house 70 E to 70W is theoretically possible ..but for all practical use ..
more like 60E to 60W ..
The extra 10 degrees either side are very much hit n miss with much fading of signals..

hi all I did a scan last night first on 55.5W this is what I received 33 transponders which gave me 106 tv,43 radio and 2 data channels next I tried 58W I got 17 transponders which gave me 255 tv,22 radio channels bit surprised I got as many.

Mighty frustrated after seeing Prides numbers I admit..
mainly because I used to get more or less ALL transponders on 58W ..so what has changed..
Well ..it appears that the V box doesn't get to position 27 (58W) very often ..
In actual fact it is hitting E2 instead ..
that is to say the endstop E2 and 27 appear to be too close together and since the plastic cam in the actuator head is fixed for the Western (fully closed position) I can't pinch a bit..
Looking at the jack when it supposed to be fully closed there is still a couple of inches of the extension (inner jack) showing.
I'm sure this was never the case with the old superjack ...so I can only assume the heavy duty superjack+ is constructed differently..
You will remember I was very p1ssed off at the time I installed it as it counts in 2s not 1s ..so accurate positioning is never easy since it was fitted.
Anyway I've slid the whole jack further into the rose joint clamp about a cm ..
non of the outer sleeve of the jack extends beyond the clamp now ..in fact it is about 5mm recessed inside it ..
No doubt this has robbed me of 64East ..but there's sod all there for me anyway.
Bad design I calls it..
anyway I was previously getting 1.5 db unlocked Mariavision 58W..
Now locked at 6.2 db..
So in light of this I'm re-scanning 58W with Christina ..and expecting maybe a couple more transponder locks.
We shall see.

Previous Results Christina at 58W 4 Horizontal txpdrs
New result = 8
..and I'm still not convinced I'm centred on Intelsat 21 ..
The photo perhaps shows what I mean ..
This is the Heavy duty superjack ..errr ..closed ..
Not in my book it aint..
but that's how it was made ..
pic showing only inner jack ..
outer is 5mm inside the clamp...

Since the clearance I have left to the wall behind is 4.5 inches ..
Perhaps the next jack I buy should be a 36 instead of a 24 ..
and shorten it to 28 inches..
This would indeed allow me to cover the arc fully from 58W to 64 East ....but still counting 2s if I chose a heavy duty jack.
cest la vie

Ok ..so I guess this proves I wasn't centred on Intelsat 21 ..
Drilled a new hole a few cm further back on the jacks horizontal extension plate thus moving the whole actuator back _past_ the sat itself.. (stored position 27)
I'll adjust for optimum arc coverage later ..but I expect I'll lose extreme East though how much is yet uncertain.
Just re-scanned Int21 H ..and no change still 8 transponders locked..
BUT 2 more on the vertical scan
New result 14
Making a total of 22 transponders.
Still haven't tried the C1 PLL wideband on Christina yet so no idea if this will gain me anything.

...a quick blindscan with the F15 logs 287 TV channels across H and V ..
mostly encrypted of course.

Yes, in another board, there are reports from Europe of an Amazonas-1 Ku-band transponder.
Amazonas-1 is at 55.4° West already for almost 2 months.

As suspected I could no longer reach 57 East as it was ..
removed the motor cover and pinched 2 more 'teeth' on the fully extended limit switch cam ..
So even though I cannot see a picture from Amhara at this time of year (TT in leaf ...) I did get a 2db confirmation that 57East is being reached.
So looks like I may get away with this but will lose 64 East ..
No great loss..
62 East may still be possible..but for what is over there..
The better choice is alignment centred on Intersat 21 is of greater benefit.
What I have noticed is that the jack has become much noisier and sounds laboured..
Wouldn't you think they'd provide oil injection points at the connection end..
A good dose might delay the inevitable jack failure.
As I have said before ..I'm lucky to get 2 years out of an actuator..
Mainly due to the weather in Manchester..
More than our share of rain.

hi VS you did well on the transponders,i used 1.5cm dish with Titanium C1 wideband I will have to do a swap with the EX241 to see if there is any difference.
