Are all these using spotbeams or is there any (ie the Disney ones) on pan-European beams?

Sorry, can't tell that from my location. I just noted the significant increase in SNR on these TPs since yesterday which implies a move to 1N.

So all that's left on 2D are the BBC channels so I reckon they will be gone by Saturday? But all this is about 2D going to 1N so the 12.402V and 12.480V for ITV and CH4 ,and the BBC interactive on 11.953 H should be safe for a while ?

Not unless they get a giant dish. Can anybody properly work out what size dish we would need in Cyprus for 1 N ?

Is there still room on 1N for the BBC channels to move over? Im surprised at the speed in which 2D has all but been cleared as i originally thought 1N was to provide additional capacity at 28.2e but it seems more like a direct replacement now.
It's probably a bit early to speculate but any idea where she's off to after she becomes empty? Or does she have a terminal problem as it's is the younger of the 3 original birds at that position and would have thought one of the others might have been cleared first.

I think the Astra 2D will remain on the 28.2 position as back up until the 2F arrives. Maybe in an inclined orbit saving energy to lengthen its lifetime. The expected lifetime is 15 years (2000 till 2015, _http://www.ses.com/4628803/astra-2d).

Astra 1N has a capacity of 104 Ku band transponders. Currently it has 17 active. BBC has 5 transponders on Astra 2D which when migrated will take the active total to 22.

Exactly. This is the way SES have always switched off their satellites when they went into retirement. Expect the BBC TPs to move within the next few days.
It's done uplink by uplink station, and the BBC is last obviously.
Astra 2D's regular operation era is coming to an end...

Can confirm the reception in Fuerteventura. 10714H and 10744H are definately a lot stronger on my 3.7mtr dish. C/N readings were 9.0 ish and now coming in at 10.4 (10714H) and 11.1 (10744H). BBC still at 9.0

Not as strong as 11053H and 10964H which I can just hold 24/7 on a 1.35 meter but may be possible on a 1.8mtr. Hopefully get to play with a 1.8 later today so will get some idea. Suspect that for reliable service it may require a 2.4. (we are weaker here than in Gran Can and Tenerife). Just need BBC to migrate now and happy days....may even have a little rain fade margin (not that it rains that much!)

22 out of 104, plenty of spare room then.. She's a big bird this one!
