Had a quick check on 10964H on my 3.7mtr dish in Fuerteventura and assuming this is the UK spot beam then the signal is far higher than the existing 2D signals. ie currently struggling to hold BBC on 10803H with sig strength 48, quality 52, C/N 7.4 (all readings at about 9pm when signal seems worst).
C5 on 10964h is coming in at sig strength 56, quality 82, C/N 11.5.

This makes a big difference and can only hope, pray, beg whatever that BBC move over to 1N (doubt it though)

All measurements taken using satcatcher mk4 meter (after multiswitch)

I hoped too that BBC will move to 1N because 2D is on the end of the life.

But lets be realistic, that not gonna happen. We thought all that 2D is done but looks like it will survive enough to wait for next satellite: 2F.

If they wanted (BBC) to move to 1N they would do that already. So unfortunately nothing (1N is just a backup and for new channels which can't fit on 2D) . I will not buy new dish for that (unfortunately) because who knows what will 2F bring (uk spot beam coverage for 1N is better than expected but for 2F is a big "unknown" especially since that bird is build for 28.2 in advance, not as a backup as 1N is ).

I hope I am wrong.

Also there is no signal on all transponders in the eastern part of Europe, but "the mounds" are waiting to be activated as you can see at least the last two:

Hi satesco, is that graph from today ? Not seeing any activity at 11160H or 11171H today (I've got Easyblindscan on a loop at the moment). As you say they may be about to come back to life soon.

You should do -
I gave you the same warning last week in one of the 1N threads ;)

(although to be fair the threads did fill up rapidly!)

Does it really matter what the exact replacement cycle is? Its all liable to change anyway depending on how well the satellites perform. If one starts degrading rapidly for any reason the current plans will change.

Why do think it's the spot beam?

I was under the impression C5 were on a pan european beam although it is odd if they are going to go FTA in December?

What sort of signal do you get on 11127.00V?

I'm not sure 1N is better than 2D.

2D has hot and cold spots so people who are in a 2D cold spot are under the impression it's a lot better.

Based on the reports in Cypris some people could have problems getting 1N.

Also I've not seen any report from the Costa del Sol.

Is 1N worst than 2D in the Costa del Sol?

Is C5 using a spot beam on 1N?

Terry

If C5 and the rest of their family of channels is going fta as expected then they are on the spotbeam.

1N's coverage into Spain and Portugal was always going to be reasonable due to the wide lobe to the southwest which was shown on the first coverage map released. (Which was quickly withdrawn & subsequent maps have had it sanitised off). The new Astra 2's wont have that lobe.

We suspect its on the spot as the lads in eastern Europe cant get it - but they could get the Sky tests last week.

How come we could get the Sky test last week, but not the tests on the spot??

The Sky tests must have been on one of the two widebeams.

Grapfic is from this afternoon. In fact is the same all the time even feeds are gone.Interesting and also strange is that the frequencies{11160 & 11171} used for the feeds seems that are active although the scan does not give any results.Perhaps with a larger antenna and a signal meter professional could provide us information about these transponders that seem active. With my satellite spectrometer fail to get anything. If I have a 2 meter antenna, I'd probably get more information.Perhaps those in Western Europe could do more extensive tests.
I would say that the two feeds used these days are already rented slots!?Only this explains the existence of these "mounds".

No lock on any of the DVB-S feed frequencies here.

I'm surprised something hasn't turned up on 11053H yet as that TP has been illuminated for about a week with no activity so far. I'm thinking that ITV's widebeam TP on 12402V may arrive here in due course.

Got my VU+ up and running today. Got CH4 loud and clear on with SNR of 75% and it looks good. My question relates to CH5 on the 10964 frequency-is this still encrypted?
Cheers
