There is more than one satellite transmitting from the 28.2 East slot Gordon, the BBC at present do not use 2D, they use one of the other birds which has a wider footprint. When they move to 2D, you will experience the same problems as you do with ITV, which is already using it.

Hi all.
i've a 300 cm prime focus dish.
i had 35 mt cable a Panasonic 30 whit a lnb MTI APTW8.
I losed 2a north beam during the day, expecially the low frequency.
Now i have add 100 mt cable and now i lose only in the morning the low frequency.
i've more signal quality, and no strenght!!!!!!!
I think is true the story of swamp the tuner.
For now im happy. i can add another piece of cable for test 2d signal.
Bye

I'm pretty sure that an attenuator could be either bought or made to achieve the same thing Barney, the 100m extra cable just seems an over complicated way of achieving the required result.

It may also be possible to attenuate higher frequencies more than the lower (perhaps someone more technically able would comment).

Hi ROLFW,
this mornig around 8.30 pm, the frequency 11934 v, red button chanell 999, start to pixelling.
I've add another 10 mt of cable (total 150 mt) and signal was OK.
it's incredible , but true.
After 2 hour no signal from 999, ok whit the other high frequency.
Ciao

Please forgive my ignorance. I am in southern Greece and have been told I can never expect to receive Astra 2D signals. Now people are posting about Astra 2D signal strengths!!
Can someone please tell me whats going on? Also how can I get ITV down here if it works in Cyprus??

Please be gentle!

@Gordon
We are using 4.2m + dish on 28 for ITV in Cyprus..i'ts possible.
Ask your installer what is the dish size he has tested before tellling you not to expect it..

I have finaly got hold of a second hand 1.25 prime focus dish. It has not been used for some time, has no lnb or ground mount. Can any one tell me if I can use a normal lnb with this dish or do I need a special one for prime focus dishes? What is the best type of ground mount?

Iceman,

Thanks for the reply, If possible mark your location on the kingofsat map for astra 2d, so I can build up a picture of astra 2ds signal strength through out europe and dish size.

what type of antenna, and gain,

Yes it's true! I received a mail from Tenerife

Various brands of receiver
1.8m & Channel Master 2.4m dish
LNB type not known

Hi, Just to try and help you out with the footprint issue, I am in Tenerife
and believe or not even though we are 1500 miles further
away than the footprint suggests we can get all the horizontal channels
of 2D with a Channel Master 2.4m dish, With all makes of boxes but for channel 4
and Sky 1 mix (We cant get Sky 1) you need either a Panasonic 30, Sony 760, Grundig /2
or the very new pace box (which is the best out of all boxes).
We can get ITV on a 1.8 m dish with a good box but only in the afternoon,
We cant get ITV 2 at all and have even tested it on a 4m dish
(but we don't know if that dish was any better than a channel master 2.4m).
Hope this helps you.
Darren
