Interesting date - Presumably that is in order to await the clearing out of Eutelsat 28A?

So maybe there are three possibilities for what then happens to 2E:

Stay put at 28.3x

Move to the (by then) vacant 28.5 slot

Move to 28.2

4) move all satellites to 28.3 as more equidistant between the arab sats at 26 and 30.5?

Having 2E closer to EB1 would make the transition of migration between the two easier from an uplink perspective.

I'd have thought though that 2F would be more of a current contender for ex-EB1 TP's (if it happens before 2G) as SES like to balance out loading across 28E fleet. 2F currently has 19 active TP's as opposed to 2E which has 30.

Is 12129H the only remaining data TP left active now at 28E? Does anyone know 1N's beacon frequency?

Hi

Isn't it 12129V? Anyway, I belive there's 12441V (which was previously 11186V).
BTW, 11008V, which was switched on and off yesterday, could still have been on 1N.

So we still can't be asbolutely sure if 2E/2F can transmit Europe beam in bands D & C.

Regards,
Bengt

Note: Very weak signal on or about 11489H here. Less than 5dB SNR.

Well that should improve reception of 28.5 channels! :)

11.008V was definatly on 1N yesterday again, much too strong to be on 2E or 2F Europe beam. Gone again today, so it was on only for a few hours. So considering SES's data the positioning manouvre should take place this afternoon.

To be seen now if the EB1 will end up in UK or Europeen Beams...
I suspect UK as these are mostly FTA channels...

Sorry Bengt, my mistake, should be vertically polarised! So 12441V is also active, is this also on 2A South beam do we think?

That's not going to happen. Positions are registered with ITU and you need to have a satellite in that slot to maintain rights the position.

Current orbit is slightly elliptical so 2E has a daily cycle wandering between 28.30 and 28.42.

I realigned my 1.8m dish yesterday. Graph attached. Look at around 17:30. Picked up lots of signal on 2E for almost no trade-off on 2F.

Yes. The question is when. Once 28A is retired all those channels will be carried on an SES Astra satellite.

BBC Red Button 2 is on Astra 2F PE beam. Sky News in legacy definition is now on Astra 2A South.
