Cheers kevjs and Timo.Maybe four 2A TP's could go to 1N for now and the rest to 2F if kevjs's information about 2F's capability is indeed what the satellite is capable of.

We obviously too don't know for sure if anything other than a few PID changes are happening on the morning of the 28th?

CURRENT STATUS FOR ASTRA 2E: Testing ended at the Test position. (25-11-2013)
Astra 2E' will soon start moving to towards 28.2° east, where the satellite will be handed over to SES. SES will then carry out their own tests before transferring any transponders from Astra 1N.

Astra 2E does not appear to have moved at present, it may well be on the move.
Keep an eye on Astra 2E, as it starts moving to towards 28.2° east.

Exactly.

That's why we need to be clear when we are speculating and why we need to provide accreditation for any third-party information.

Otherwise we just get self-perpetuating Chinese Whispers.

Totaly agree.

Let us try to hold us to factual info Re. 2E refering to source.

And not the speculation doing the rounds on various forums eg. digital spy and astra2forum just to name some:-doh

It is great fun to speculate and hypothesise when there is limited factual information to go on. I think a few people need to lighten up here.

Also, that Forum and others are now singing a similar song to us in not anticipating 2E being Operational until early in 2014.

2A is the critical issue it seems, owing to its condition and rate of degradation, so the mooted moves from it to 2F this week need to be addressed as the priority.

Presumably once that is over, the coast will be clear for transit of 2E.

It rather depends upon whether it is sensible and reasonable. There are far too many rumours and not enough substance, yet inevitably some people take what is suggested as gospel truth! That then self-perpetuates and takes effort to rebut, all the while clouding reality.

Some of what I've read of late has just been plain ridiculous. Last year we had one of our own Members causing ructions by quoting "friends in SES". We don't have that this year, fortunately, as the person concerned favours another Forum now!

It's the one on the left side. The pair on the right side are the Turksats at 42E.
Trying to identify the one in between, Nigcomsat 1R perhaps. Hard to find information
on all the space-junk that show up in pictures. Lots of moving stuff too.

Yes, n2yo is up-to-date. Data is less than 24 hours old. And transit time will be at least 14 days when it does start to move.

I'm quite sure about Nigcomsat 1R, the spacing is right.

Tomorrow night, you might see Astra 1H together with 2E!
Astra 1H will most probably stop at 43.3 East.

Nice catch! What kind of optical aid do you use? A telescope, a zoom lens, or.. ?

Which forum is that?

BTW, last year we were the first to report the initial transponder switch to 2F at 28E (11023H) a lot of forums refused to accept it for several hours/days.

Yup. It's good to be at the forefront. Another reason to keep any speculation sensible.

The other place referred to is the Astra 2 Forum, if you follow the (tortuous!) Quote Trail backwards. We have many Members in common

Incidentally, I have noticed that the meat of what goes on here is often referred to on DS, which is flattering.
