I was just reading some old SES publicity PDFs and noticed 2F was launched almost exactly a year before 2E.

Astra 2F: Launched 28th Sept 2012
Astra 2E: Launched 29th Sept 2013

Astra 2F: Officially started commercial operations 21st Nov 2012
Astra 2E: 22nd Nov 2013? ;)

Just time to relocate the BBC & ITV before the seasonal epg freezes! ;)

It seems n2y0 have updated the TLE's, Perigee now 14085km, Apogee still 35964km - circularisation is getting closer.

Are these TLE's the latest updates or are they half a day or so old once they are updated on n2y0's website?

Depends on the day of the week. Update is once every 24 hours, and the TLE's are several hours old when that update is done. And there are no updates over the weekend. If you want to know exactly look at the TLE.

In bold, first 2 figures are the year, and the rest is the day of the year and fraction of the same in UTC.

With today's TLE apogee lines up with 45ºE at 06:30 UTC tomorrow morning so possibly that is when it will be boosted from transfer orbit to geostationary.2E-track.jpg

Cheers Huevos, I didn't understand how to read the date from these TLE's.

n2y0 is now reporting perigee of 26k, inclination of 2.4deg so it's getting closer to being circularised and non-inclined.

I guess we'll see some testing by the end of next week if we're lucky!

If like for like, we might have action around 13th - a week Sunday :-irish

From the 2F observations it will most likely be a Friday 11th, Saturday 12th or Monday 14th. We all learnt that Astrium/SES don't work Sundays as all fell quiet on the day of rest (!), they do work on a Saturday though!!

Seen as SES are keen to have her up and running ASAP I do wonder if we might see a more intense testing schedule with 24/7 testing so to try and shave a few days off getting her to 28.2E? We'll have to wait and see.

TLE's updated, she's pretty much at GSO now:

Perigee: 35,677.6 km
Apogee: 35,741.4 km

Also reported as being at 41.3E, reckon we'll see some testing by midweek.
