Welcome to the forum.

10805H are also a problem for me ( need more metal (bigger dish ) ) due to that birds daily wobble ( shift ).

Have you tried 10818V ( if your not regional bbc dependent ) as these are a bit more stable for me.

Location central southern Norway

Good luck

From Yesterday's night monitoring signal level changes on 10847V. Till now there are only 27 times when signal went below lock level. I suspect it could be because of bad weather conditions (rained pretty bad). Rest of the time signal is OK. Will continue monitor one more day and see will there be repetition of the periods with high and low levels. And what could be the period of those periods? 24hours?

Hi, sorry, a bit OT, but how do you make that kind of graph? A software on a Windows computer?

Thx,

/Wafer

If you really mean making the graph then, yes, it is made in MS Excel. Or you've meant collecting the data?

Thx for the answer, I guess I am most interest to know how you collect the data :)

Tested data collection. Here is 10847V once a minute 24h reception.

@ocean04 If you have used %% (not dB ) to make this graph then it would be more detailed picture. IMHO
Another thing which could be added to the final picture is your location..... just in case you use this picture separately from your avatar. And another thing is the fact that on the same transponder there are channels with different level of signal, so, maybe also channel name could be added to picture.

% is no better. Interval is 0.25, believe that's driver related. Tuner however is far better than in VU+
Location detail is in attached picture.
Channel was BBC One HD, but it doesn't matter, they are all the same.
I can do the same for 10964H when I have time to tune dish.
Btw do you get anything from for example 11306 or 11023? Few times managed to get a lock (VU+)

You are right, I looked in wrong place 10817V instead of 10847V

Those two are on Astra 2F, which is another satellite, so I get nothing. Will try to re-point antenna when warmer to try to get Astra 2F UK beam.

All well with 2 E\F\G uk's on the cm 180. All eu's blasting in at 17db on vu+

Have taken down the Famaval 125 cm, was ok for 2E uk most of the time, but F\G uk too weak in evenings.
Been a very good dish for the price, will find some future use for it.

Hi. Sorry for bringing up an older thread, but lately I have been toying around with a couple of bigger dishes to get the UK stuff on 28e and I have a couple of questions:

What are your signal levels for 10906V at its weakest with the 180 and when did they (normally) disappear with the 125? I have a Gibertini 125 up at the moment and the UK beam is behaving well at the moment: Around noon today I had 11.5 dB on 10906V and the picture stayed on until almost 21 tonight, which is a new record and it's even somewhat overcast. 5,5 dB required on my receiver for a stable picture.
I just stumbled upon a 180CM prime focus for 1500dKr. It gets delivered thursday. Can't wait to see the results. As I have a flashing "lock" on my receiver throughout the nightly signal dip I hope for the best. Just a bit worried about the 50 meter cable run. I wonder if this will be a problem?

I'm in NW Denmark: 8'52E 56,48N

Kind regards/Venlig hilsen

Claus

@skaarup75 welcome your first post in the Forum.
Near Riga I am getting almost 9 dB (of course depending of the time of the day) ScreenHunter_282 Apr. 17 23.37.jpg
Of course you will get better reception results with 1.8m PFA than you have now on 1.2m dish. 50m cable run is not critical. Do you have choice on that?

Thanks @RimaNTSS

Unfortunately the only place I can fit the PF is in my garden, and as the garden is north of my house I have to move the dish back so that the house is not in the way. But I will need at least 40m cable.
10906V is starting to come back now. Signal hits 4,2dB on and off now.10729V will come back at around the same time.

Question: Can You get 2E and 2G on the same LNB on a 180 dish or will I have to settle for one at a time? I do get a polarmount with the dish, so maybe I should play around with that a bit :-)

On 1.8m dish 2E and 2G will come easily on one LNB even without doing klicks by actuator. What kind of LNB you will have on your 1.8m PFA?

I'm not sure yet. I'm more or less getting all the sellers spare parts, which includes the old original LNB's plus a never one which sits in a modified holder. I don't know which is best as I have never had a PF before. Exciting times to come :-)

You're getting this:

174794075_906_1024_0_0_0_0_2.jpg

(I almost bought it nyself over the weekend, but it's just too far away from me to be worth it. I have too many large dishes already...).

Its a Cosmos 180cm PF (Swedish mfg from late 80's) with polar mount.
For some contemporary ads and pics see here:

Parabol nostalgi

PM looks ok, you need a 36" actuator on that to move it properly / withstand next storm.
If you do motorise the dish, you will need a V-box and separate power cabling to the dish.

For LNB you will need a modern Ku one to mate with the feed-horn provided with the dish.
A better start is probably to try this first:

Konv. UNI GI-209P Flange 0,2dB

Much easier and cheaper than fiddling with matching feed-horns etc.
From the previous owner's pictures, it looks like it's possible to fit a 40mm LNB in the clamp provided.
It is also clear that you should throw away the 40mm LNB that comes with the dish, its feed-horn does not match the dish.

For cabling, do not worry about 40-50 meters. Unless you cross buried power-lines or simliar with your cable, you can start worrying when you go beyond 100m.
As long as you have double or triple shielded, you will be fine.
It is not the signal strength that matters, it is and will be the C/N ratio (støj/signalforhold) that will make reception possible or not.
So, be sure to match the LNB to the dish (get a GI209 or use the provided feedhorn with a C120 flange LNB, possibly using adaptators).
Then have a single (or double) length of good shielded cable.
Don't skimp on F-connectors, do get compression types if you can - they're much better at being RF-irradiation tight.

With the 180, you will have difficulty getting 2E/F/G on the same orientation.
Even on 120cm dishes near Copenhagen, there's a clear discrimination if you point to either 2E or 2G (extremes).
Ideally, you will need the motorisation.
Compromise is probably to align with 2G (HD channels), then live with the SD performance.

Looking very much forward to progress reports!

Hi @st1 Thank you for a very informative post :-)

I tried the link for the Gi-209P You sent me, but they don't seem to ship to Denmark. I can't select a shipping method. I wonder if this:
Code:
https://www.hm-sat-shop.de/lnb/lnb-flansch/989/inverto-idlp-sinf02-oopro-opp-single-flansch-lnb-0.2db?c="]Inverto IDLP-SINF02-OOPRO-OPP Single Flansch LNB 0.2dB | LNB Flansch | LNB | Digitale Sat-Receiver, Anlagen und Zubehör - hm-sat-shop.de
would do the trick? It is possible to fit a 40 mm LNB to the dish at the moment, but as I mentioned: I'm not really experienced with PF dishes, so any help is greatly appreciated :-)

Claus! We had GI-209P LNBFs in the shops, I think that price was less than 11 EUR. I have sent such an LNBFs to several members already and can try to do it for you as well. GI-209P has star-holder in the set, it will look like this
