57E to 58W, C-band and Ku, DVB-S2, 4:2:2 and blindscan.
My Location
38.5ºN, 0.5ºW
i have a contact of mine around valencia area with a big stock of 2.40m dishes, keep telling ppl that they´ll need a 2.40 dish and may be more to receive the future signal from the new satellite ...
Starts with M and ends with O? Or starts with B and ends with E? Anyway what we've seen in testing so far does seem pretty similar to 2F beam patterns during its test phase.

there ´s lots of ppl simply wont accept the fact that the Astra 2E will perform exatly the same way as 2F ,, i have a contact of mine around valencia area with a big stock of 2.40m dishes, keep telling ppl that they´ll need a 2.40 dish and may be more to receive the future signal from the new satellite ...

Wonder what he will do with all those giant paella dishes once he finds most people in the Valencia area will be fine with what they already have!

all test freqs have the same power as yesterday.
It's interesting which beam they were using when I got signals on 12343H, 11939V,11766H.
The signals were weak but freqs are from Astra 2A band...

Whilst it is interesting to see the trials continuing unabated, the signals received in mainland Europe bear little relation to what will be experienced when Astra 2E is in its final position.
It is testing 15º further east, on non-steerable antennas. When in service, the beams will be be 15º further west.

2E, unlike Astra 2F, has a middle-east beam. Geographically, this is targeted closer to the UK beam.
If the pattern of use on 2F's African beam are repeated, some frequencies will be used on both beams, on opposing polarities.
It will be critical to fringe reception in eastern Europe exactly which frequencies are re-used.

Expect to see problems in the southern and eastern quarter of Europe if, as expected, Astrium and SES arrange the frequency plan to minimise the reach of the UK beam outside the British Isles.

The satellite operators almost certainly read forums for reception reports...

No doubt. But I shouldn't think the significance of that ranks very high and probably tells them little that isn't evident to them anyway.

The widebeam footprints of 2E is different from 2F most likely for this very reason. I do wonder, taking this in to account, whether therefore the spotbeam, will indeed be any different as I posted earlier up the thread.

I've also been curious as to why the 2E Euro footprint is a little different but the overall coverage seems very similar to 2F, just more weaker areas within the footprint.

Starts with M and ends with O? Or starts with B and ends with E? Anyway what we've seen in testing so far does seem pretty similar to 2F beam patterns during its test phase.

M...O looks right ;)
