Back to 75% strength 60% quality. Must have been an a.m. thing - don't normally look at 5 that time of day.

Someone has just told me on a local forum that they are receiving all the 2F UK Spot TPs on a "big" dish here in Gran Canaria. I have asked for some specific information about their setup and will post the information here when I have it.

Thanks for these updates, I have just returned to GC and rescanned my dm800se.
With my 1 mt dish ALL the sports channels are available including F1 so its looking good for milestone 11. There seems to many more movie channels available as well.

Can't get the BBC feed though.

I will try and make a complete channel check later.
Cheers,
barryt

He has posted the following limited information ...
The lnb is a invercom c120 quad. Flange with feed horn if that makes any sense to you. Friends of mine with a different make 3m dish cannot get these channels so tomorrow morning is going to be interesting
It doesn't help much, I suspect he has a 3m prime focus dish.
Good to know that all is not lost here anyway.

I was about to say your useful report would be even better in the Central & Eastern section, but have just spotted it's copied there. Thankyou ;)

Hola Peeps, Just changed my receiver from Openbox S16 to Technomate TM5402. Something interesting has occurred with 11053H and 11127V on 2f. when using the openbox I was getting clear reception of ITV ect for the daylight hours, faded at about 1845. now with the technomate I am getting clear reception most of the time even UTV HD. Channel 4 HD on 11127 would stutter but now is ok most of the time, 4 7 was always pretty good. Sorry I am unable to give detailed snr ect. Has anyone else noticed a change? or is it just that the Tech box is superior. Still nothing from Channel 5 on 10964 though. Coincidence?? I will carry out some more tests and see if I can lock any BBC when and it stops raining.

The TM5402 is supposed to have a pretty good tuner (like the DrHD F15) for weak channels. Don't know about the Openbox.

Hi Timo, I have been using openboxes for a couple of years, always worked very well on weak signals with the exception of the X5, not quite as good as the S 10 or S 16 but the technomate is far superior. Anyway back on topic, poured with rain most of yesterday so not able to try to lock BBC on 2E and this morning, more rain. I have my doubts as to whether I can find a lockable signal, there is certainly no margin for error, two spots of rain on the LNB and it all went off. Will try when weather improves.

UTV HD coming in loud and strong tonight. Emmerdale perfect. Hoping it will last until after Corrie too. The other half will be delighted when he gets in from work not to have to wait until tomorrow to watch the ITV2 HD recordings.

Well, time has passed and it's stopped raining. I have been doing a lot of dish tweaking, now getting the ITV mplx on 11053 H and Channel 4 hd and 4 seven on 11.126 V all the time, even with some light cloud, very pleased as wifey can watch her soaps. I did get a pixelated picture from ITV Channel on I think 10.906 which would be 2E, I can also pull in Channel 5 boquet on 10.964 but it upsets the strength of the 11.053 transponder and I'd rather have that one, never did watch channel 5. Nothing to report on 2e, need bigger dish. Oh all this is on the technomate, it works when the other boxes break up. I apologise for the non technical report, had forty years in the tv trade and only have a rudimentary satmeter/monitor now. Remember when you had to find the satellite with a compass and then tune in? Groziont amongst others, oh and the Baird 700 dual standard CTV, sorry rambling again.

I have the same dish as you but no C120 feedhorn. I am also having most success with 2F but nothing consistant. I presume this is because 2E has an official position on 28.35E whereas 2F is at the traditional position of 28.2E. Have you actually re-aligned your dish or have you just tweaked the LNB?

My LNB is an Inverto Black Ultra, but I have read in a post by Fringe that he is getting better results with an (old) Invacom. I am wondering if I should try to get a C120 feedhorn for the dish (if I understand correctly it has to be an Andrews one specifically made for this dish type) and a new Invacom. I have also heard mention of these BOSHMANN LNBs but have failed to find any suppliers by Googling.

If anyone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate the help.

I did try a black ultra some time ago but found it slightly worse than the Invacom twin which must be six years old now I guess. I did have to realign the dish to pick up 10.906v, I could just about lock a picture on ITV Channel but it was pixellating badly but then I upset the multiplex on 11053h so I put it back. I remember reading somewhere that the feedhorn needs to be the right one for the Andrews dish, I brought mine over with me when we moved here 9 years ago from Eurosat in Exeter. They had a contact in Lanzarote who advised this was the best setup. Originally I had the single LNB but changed it for the twin later and it gave some improvement, that was in the 2D days. Milestone 11 has a boshmann and I had a play with that a couple of years ago, compared it to a black ultra, it was the difference between pixellating on the black ultra and a clear picture on the boshmann if I remember right, Milestone 11 perhaps remembers better. I have found by twiddling with the focal point I got a marked improvement, I have double checked the two halves of the dish are aligned too. I found that by pushing the feedhorn up by a few mil it gave a marked improvement, BER in the threethousands down to the fourhundreds by doing that. I haven't finished fiddling yet and will do more but at the moment 11053 and 11126 are pretty well there all the time during the day fading at around 9pm. I don't hold out much hope for BBC on 2e though, the dish just isn't big enough. I reckon it could be extended and someone on this forum has done it for C band but I don't think I can be bothered, as long as er indoors has her ITV soaps my life is sweetness and light. Hope this helps a bit. PS forgot to mention the TM 5402 gives the best results over the openboxes.

Don't forget 2E is at 28.35E whereas the dish will originally have been aligned to 28.2E for 2D (which is also where 2F is).

Mmm, I read somewhere on one of these forums that 2E seems to be down on power slightly, my devious mind is telling me if that is the case, could it be deliberate? The only transponder I can lock a picture on 2E is 10.906v which carries an ITV mplx, I do have to pull the dish left and down a bit and the picture is breaking up, unwatchable really. Sounds a bit like the navy lark don't it? left a bit right a bit.

When 2E first launched I was receiving a couple of TPs intermittently, but recently nothing.

I will have to have a serious play with this I think, er indoors goes back to UK for a couple of weeks next week so that will give me time to do some research and correct any mess ups. The radiation pattern for the channel 5 mplx means left a bit, down a bit too but that is on 2F, if I align to that then 11.053 breaks up, or is the channel 5 transponder just lower power, strange but then out of footprint overspill is a science on it's own. GC and TF are well south and west of here but I see some are getting 2E quite well. I understand that Lanzarote is a real black spot and that is a little farther north. I'll keep you posted.
