It was only a vague suggestion at why the footprint doesn't seem to match the published one and taking your figures then yes I'll agree it's not worth Sky even worrying about if that's the expat population (for which I wasn't aware). Out of curiosity then, what would you say is the expat population and Sky subs total for those in Crete, Cyprus, The Canaries (i.e. the areas affected)?

That total net addition per day you quote includes UK broadband and telephony customers, strip them out to just pay TV customers and it's a lot lower. I guess when the figures to 31st Dec come out tomorrow they'll be lucky to have added more than 55,000 TV customers in the whole 3 Months to December 2012, and that's their busiest period.

This migrate is dissepointing for Turkey. Almost all the signals down in here.
I can only get signals below tp after migrate with 170 cm dish in Istanbul

On the www.apps.ses.com for Astra 2F European Beam it seems there are footprints on Istanbul And Canarian Ireland and it seems it is not exist. is there any possibilty if astra increase the signal levels for the places?

I've just found this on another forum:

"from SES:

Astra 2B was indeed replaced by Astra 2F at 28.2 degrees East and will soon move to 19.2 degrees East to support the fleet and provide back-up capacity at this orbital position. The channel shifts should now be completed."

It is unsubstantiated at the moment but interesting nevertheless.

Some wild speculation, if (and that's a big if) Astra 2F's European beams are not running at full power, could they be deliberately trying to keep levels similar to Astra 2A in the UK and only increase the levels after 2E comes online?

Can you tell I'm clutching at straws in the hope that we won't loose everything in Helsinki this autumn? :-rofl2

They should.

But there have been occasions in recent history where their Press Releases have been incomplete, misleading and even partly inaccurate.

Once bitten .......................

ALSO, at the end of the page you linked to, it says:

Channel information provided by LyngSat Network. SES ASTRA is not responsible for the content of linked websites or external sources. If you notice an error or would like to add a channel please contact LyngSat directly:

So it's worth remembering that site like Lyngsat, Flysat, KingofSat etc. rely to a large extent on reports from end users (ie Us!). If that info is wrong, even though given in good faith, then it has to be corrected. This is why we keep harping on about corroboration.

ie A simple,well-intentioned error in reporting can lead to the error becoming "truth".

Interesting! On Facebook a swap to the 2F is confirmed. On the official website it says 1N. :/

The frequency with QVC has moved to the 2A according to onastra.co.uk.

I'm sorry. I haven`t seen this and also haven't expected this. So, Astra 2F remains the most probable satellite for Sky News UK.

You are probably correct, but SES seem to like to take their time in doing these transfers.

The only problem with that is that the beam characteristics don't match 1N spot or 1N PE1.

It's no more accurate than Lyngsat, I assume they just take a feed direct from that site.

To me if it is on 1N how have so many people lost it? I thought 1N was a strong signal.

Neither the 2F, because the European beam of 2F covers the Canary Islands. I don't think that the 2A could take all the load of the 2B. Some but not all.

I think a lot of people / sites are "guessing"..collating signal reports is the best that can be done to prove / disprove there is a new beam that doesnt fit the known characteristics of any beam we have seen to date. Like us im sure whoever is feeding lyngsat , on astra and KOS is just doing the best with the incomplete information they have What is known is that the Canaries have lost signal on some tps that are generally recievable around Europe so there is a european beam of some description that doesnt cover the canaries. If i had to lay money on the table i would say that the 2F PE beam doesnt cover the canaries which amongst other things could be beam shaping gone wrong. Hopefully more reports make that clear , especially from locations where 1Ns strenght is known and relatively different as appears to be the case with the few reports i have seen. In the great rush to figure it all out , even what SES themselves have said is being conjured by chineese whispers , they never said that everything was moved to 2F only that 2B was leaving.
