Do you already? If not then no.
Yet to be proven in the Canaries AS, but we are so close to the official footprint I see no reason why not. If 2F kills my UK spot beam and Sky move onto the 2F Pan-European I will be turning my 2.4 Channel Master to 27.5°W and using a small dish for Sky. In any case E28A Steerable is dodgy even with the Channel Master and there is not much worth watching on it anyway. Looking at the Intelsat 907 footprint I still believe a 1.2 m dish and quality LNB should pull it in in the Canary Islands.

Requires quality LNB and dish or just basic equipment?

It is only a few days until Astra 2F arrives at 28.2E, I am wondering what the priority will be ..... will clearing out 1N be the first thing to happen or will it be the migration of the channels from 2B ? Does anyone know what the plan is at SES?

Who knows. In the past some transitions have been pretty rapid (Astra 3:cool:, while in other cases full migration took a couple of months (Astra 1N).

BTW, I thought it was 2A and 1N that 2F is replacing, not 2B.

I don't think SES has such a strict policy concerning swaps and changes like Sky during the holiday season. Maybe 19 January. I think we can safely say that 19 November is incorrect :)

No but I rather doubt they are going to do any major satellite swaps immediately around Christmas - it would be a mega PR disaster if something went wrong and they managed to cut off access to the BBC & ITV to the UK or the German public channels on 19E with a botched swap. And a PR disaster = a drop in share prices..... :D

[sub]All interesting but if the testing has been thorough and successful then they already know full well that 2f will be fine once it reaches its final position. Its then simply a matter of swapping from the other sats to 2f - possibly even overnight if they want! If the testing was all OK they can be virtully certain it will be OK once swapped! Even then it could leave a pretty wide margin until the Chistmas peak - and even if it does not work, the old sats woud still be there for a while and could be used whilst problems are sorted out. I don't think there is any reason at all to delay swapping sats as soon as they want.[/sub]

Well you have obviously never been a "Tester" (no offence) . There is a fundamental principal that if you change anything then you have to test everything again. I am not suggesting they will actually do that, but they will certainly not assume all is well immediately after the satellite has travelled all that way.

Remember Murphys Law..... As far as I understand it, the reason why Sky have their epg lockdown over the xmas period is simply that there are less technical staff around due to the holidays, which gives less room to pick up the pieces if summat goes wrong.

Twice in recent years channels have gone bust and closed over xmas / new year and they stayed on the epg until early January. Any other time of year they would have been removed in a couple of days.
