Well if you look at the official footprint, the Canary Islands are only about 300 km South, so probably possible.

Sky HD on 1.8m prime focus dish with Invacom LNB. Nilesat on 80cm dish.

It is difficult to be of much help here in Lanzarote as most of the installers here don't have a hobby interest and i don't know any who have a motorized dish here.
To go moving the big dishes about in the hope of getting a test signal seems silly as in a few weeks or less we should have the bird at the position our dishes are fine tuned to. Then i am sure we will all be able to give info in signals ect.
As far as I can see it is all irreverent to most of us until it is at 28.2.
That is not to say that I don't find all this testing information interesting.
Thanks to everyone for the info.

.....

Minor and insignificant problem!
Well, until you have signal from 27.5W (which I don't here)...

Before i was gone to start to work at my office, i was looking for a short receiving spectrum at 43.5°E
Maybe you all saw my spectrum picture yesterday with very heavy signal peaks.

The -dBm level i received this morning was so extremly strong, that i could believe something is wrong in my receiving equipment ;-)
But look yourself:

-9,7 dBm @ 12401V !

it was recorded at 04:15am with clear sky and an outside temperature about 3°C

also depends on IF amp of the LNB... and length/attenuation of the cable.

There should be no need to pay any subscription provided you have a decoder that is BISS compatible and can resolve the high SR of 44100. Many do for the SD channels, however if you want the HD channels (BBC HD, ITV1, C4 are only available there in HD) this could be problematic as many receivers do not support the high symbol rate for HD. There is another thread discussing this in detail on this forum.

The SR shouldn't cause problems for modern receivers. Same for the HD bit rate. Though some receivers may have problems with AAC audio. But the real obstacle is descrambling cos all characteristics of BISS are missing. In the SDT all services are signaled as FTA. OF course the streams are scrambled but the receiver "thinks" that they are not. Further there is no CA_ID 0x2600 in the PMT to signal BISS. So it requires an EMU that will use a BISS key though there is no evidence of BISS ;)

i dnt know many receivers that can do SR of 44000, 30000 is i think the highest common SR, again depends on teh receiver some can detect the biss encrption some cant as oyu say. certainly my FTA box with basics setup sees it as FTA but wont showa picture obviously because its scrammbled my pc card and dvb viwer andprogdvb both recongise it as scrambled and need the kets to descramble

Wow, that is strong!! Surely that has to be the UK spot, interestingly the plot you posted last night had 12401V and 12460H both at similar levels, there's now a 7dB difference between the two. They must be tinkering with EiRP levels and, I guess, doing spot measurements at various teleports and other places around Europe. I wonder if they have guys dotted around Europe on the ground actively measuring field strengh together with some modelled footprints for it's current location? You'd have thought so as this I guess would be part of normal acceptance testing, no good them just sitting in Bedsdorf looking at their Spectrum Analysers!

No need - they will just be reading this thread ;)

Now SES friends, please put a proper modulated signal up - even the RTL test channels would be a huge improvement

:D
