Ah! El Maestro!
I seem to remember he weighs less than the dish! But, no doubt, knows his job and the area. Worth getting advice from a local, but still think good quality 1.2m will suffice
.

If you want a Gibertini OP130 (130cm) in good theory, reality, bad but really bad.
10714H22000 really the limit.
10729V22000 nothing.
With the "90cm" everything perfect.
--------------
Si quieres una Gibertini OP130 (130cm), en teoria buena, la realidad, mala, pero mala de verdad.
10714H22000 muy al limite.
10729V22000 nada.
Con la de "90cm" todo perfecto.

PS: 190cm of "elMaestro".

My experience is that Gibertini dishes are good but not as good as Prodelin or ChannelMaster/Raven. Gibertini 150 cm benefit from a small chock of wood to push the arm down slightly about 5mm. An alternative is to attach a guy wire underneath the LNB holder to do the same. I think it's a design or manufacturing fault.
In the past year, 120 cm installs in central Madrid and Majadahonda showed all channels even in rain, including BBC HD. ChannelMaster used in both, w/Inverto BU on one and Invacom QDF-031 on the other.
I have to disagree with the advice on installing 150cm in Madrid. It's just not needed if a good quality dish and LNB are used.

Hi all - I've been watching this forum closely in order to decide whether to install a dish (I have a Humax Freesat receiver) here in the Retiro area of Madrid, but I haven't seen any clear conclusions regarding final position for 2G and reliable signal reports. Can anyone help. Information I've gleaned from comments in this thread would suggest that I might need a 1,5m dish more or less with a decent LNB. Want to get this sorted for the Rugby World Cup :)

I live in Madrid, two or three km east of the Retiro, and I agree with others who have recommended a 1.2m dish with a good LNB. I have a 1.25 Famaval dish with an Opticum quad LNB and have had perfect 24/7 reception of all 2F and 2E channels for over a year now, and 2G since it came into operation. I have plenty of rain margin and have only lost channels for a few minutes during thunder storms. I put the dish up myself and am no expert, so no doubt a professional installer with a spectrum analyser would be able to improve the signal even more. If you're going to install the setup yourself, I can recommend a local dealer where you can get a dish and LNB quickly (maybe in time for the rugby) and avoid delivery costs.

Thanks to all who have responded. It looks pretty clear that with a quality 1.2m dish and good LNB I'll be sorted. (If anyone is interested I was told at a well-known satellite supply shop that I would need a minimum 2.5m dish in Madrid to pick up Astra2G).
I don't have the knowledge or experience to install myself, so any recommendations of installers via PM would be extremely welcome.
Thanks again. Gracias a todos

Is anyone else around the Gandia area finding signal levels on the main freesat sd/hd channels on 2E slightly lower than normal and fluctuating. I am not sure if slight changes in satellite position are causing this or maybe lnb or receiver on the way out.

Last time I looked (a week or so ago) my 80x85cm dish get all frequencies (ok they are right on the edge) apart from the one with ITV2HD, ITV4HD (11053...?).

Thanks for the swift reply, will keep an eye on levels, still have SD channels all day so no great worry yet. But always looking for an excuse to upgrade, thinking about a wetek play as they seem quite reasonably priced.

I noticed that most of my UK spots on the 1.2 were well down this morning, not sure if due to motor or up coming equinox effect. Seems almost back to normal now, but lower than yesterday. Will check over the next few days to monitor equinox effect.

Just had a huge drop in signal level on c4 HD, 11127 dropped from 72 to 50 ish. Back now but always a worry. Sometime during countdown in an ad break. Just putting it out there.

That would have been Tim Peake´s attempt at fixing the power unit on the ISS while daydreaming about Rachel Riley!

Since the beginning of the week there was a significant increase in signal level.

I live in Portugal, near Badajoz, and now i can see +/- 150 more channels than last week.

Please advise which channels / txp´s you can see now. Normally a shift of ability " to see " in the West, means a loss in the East.

Same here up north, very good 2G UK levels, ch5 \ 4 HD \ BBC HD's perfect all day, incl. in the evenings where they usually 'go away'.

OK time to theorise! Winter in all our area´s. Less sun interference, possibly, and less atmospheric interference at the moment. Possibly the bird is actually closer at the moment than at other times of year. Or, more likely, Tim cleaned the windows on his space walk!

It's -very- unusual to get any evening reception of any HD's on 2G uk. Been fine all this week, even in snow.
Whatever the cause, something has changed (not touched the dish here).

I hate to be pessimistic, but I think time of year " TOY " is playing with us at the moment. Should be ok for two or if lucky three months, then normal service will be restored, sorry:(
