Somewhere in England (possibly?)!
You need a combi boiler set up right.

That’s quite a bit of money
FWIW, "half-heating" this three (largish) bed house as it originally was cost me £300 for the Winter quarter in 1976 - think what it would cost today?

As it is today, the total energy bill (lot of electrical/electronic "stuff!) is about £5-6 a day for the temperatures we can have ATM, but at "warmer" times then it's around £3-4 and from around early April to early October I don't need the c/h and it's about £2-3 a day, and which we both need because neither of us can tolerate "low" temperatures, especially my wife who has various medical conditions which make needing to stay warm an imperative!

A question @RustySpoons: why can't you have a combi boiler - your house looks pretty modern (certainly as compared with this 1920s solid-walled end-of-terrace!)?

It was built in the 1970s, there is no supply of gas here and the heating/hot water is pumped. The only benefit is I don't have a boiler to break down and the pavements don't freeze!

IIRC, there are oil-fired combis available - you need a tank outside the house, but that should be do-able.

There is a HUGE fee if you want to remove this system, so expensive no one has bothered.

I guess you would only pay the once for the disconnection from the supply.

My dad’s old sheltered flat was on a shared boiler for heating and hot water, but that was heavily discounted, you still had a choice of the communal supply heat/hot water or using your own gas fires, that was fitted in all the rooms.

My hifi certainly kicks quite a bit of heat, I can almost hear the wheel in the meter speed up every time I turn it on

Not to mention the media server/tvheadend server/nas drives and various other electronic devices all soaking up the juice 24/7.

FWIW, who says you have to remove the existing system? Can you not install an oil-fired boiler in addition to whatever existing system there is and install manual 2-way valves into the flow and return to select whichever system you "choose"? Wouldn't have thought that wouldn't cause you a space problem if you have the house to yourself.
OTOH, it also sounds like the house is poorly insulated and that can be done fairly easily ( I bought a 1970's house in Bristol when I worked there in the late 1980's and it had "minimal" insulation - and so I had it cavity-wall insulated and put in a LOT (6-8") of roof insulation, and then the original very inefficient "back-boiler" gas fire in the living room made the place "toasty" as compared with "just bearable some-of-the time" before that was done - and it didn't cost a lot to have it done!).

Yeah its over £10,000, I won't be paying that lol.

My Naim is sat on 24/7, that's what the manual says to do, god knows how much power it uses.
And far too many PC's and things on constantly here, dread to check!

I'm looking in to things as we speak, the only issue here is there is no chimney and not sure where you can put a flue?
They check this system every few months to clean filters etc, you absolutely cannot tamper with it, so would not be able to utilise the radiators.

Possibly poorly insulated, it's timber framed with plasterboard walls.

I was under the impression it would be cheap here! I downsized from a 3 story house when I became single and it's actually more expensive being here.

Personally I would do as @jeallen01 says fit a combi and stay on the system, just don’t use the communal one.

Is the name class a/a-b/ ? My quad mono blocks are class A feed into a class B so kicks a lot of wasted energy.

I have a combi boiler in my flat, that fitted in the kitchen, the combi fitted at home is in the airing cupboard, the flue is run through the loft it’s a long pipe.

So you have choices.

I don't have gas though, so would have to be an oil one?

Oil CH here. House is of breeze faced with engineering brick. No CWI.

New Condensing Boiler (Not Combi) fitted four years ago for £1800 all-in.

Tank fill costs around £350 and lasts about 100 days, on full bore from 6am to 10pm.
