Somewhere in England (possibly?)!
I have a combi boiler in my flat, that fitted in the kitchen, the combi fitted at home is in the airing cupboard, the flue is run through the loft it’s a long pipe.

So you have choices.
Our combi is in the old upstairs c/h hot-water storage tank cupboard in the 3rd bedroom (now our "office"!) and the flue runs horizontally about 6ft to the house outside wall - just like it does in most flats/bungalows.

As for the "routine inspection" issues, I would make sure that the 2-way valves are "hidden" and that the boiler, pipes and vents are also "inconspicuous" - and put the oil tank in a new shed!

FWIW, if the c/h issue is part of a "covenant" in the freehold/leasehold T&Cs, then I would consider looking into whether, in law, that is an unduly restrictive covenant that could be challenged in court - and, if so, create a "class action" with your neighbours to challenge the enforcing company in court. That could be particularly relevant in these times when energy-efficiency is "(supposedly!) a Government policy.

There was uproar about it, my dad owned a house in this area between 1986-2012, at that time you paid a fixed fee for heating and hot water and could use what you liked.

People got greedy and never turned heating etc off, so they sent letters out saying they will go over to a "Smart Meter" system, I attended lots of meetings with my Dad as he was against it, they assured everyone it would work out cheaper, but alas it hasn't!

When he was selling his house no one could get a mortgage because of the heating system, so he consulted the removal, there were all sorts of lies about it, the gas board saying the pipes are not big enough in the streets for a combi etc. The heating company with all this propaganda and people lapped it up, but it's bitten the residents in the bum now.

Is like the pay as you go electric meters, as I know a couple of people that had charged items to the meter (it was the old sse shops) so effectively the person moving in had no prior knowledge to this, but still had the meter charging them, and one hell of a fight in trying to sort it out!

Could this happen on your system?

There is only one company that provide it and they do not do anything other than PAYG, you can use a phone app to top up as its a Smart System, but even if it was billed the cost per Kw is the same.

About to order a Split air con unit with heatpump system, £699 for 2 rooms.
Did I mention its unbearable in the summer here too.

Personally I would do as @jeallen01 says fit a combi and stay on the system, just don’t use the communal one.

Is the name class a/a-b/ ? My quad mono blocks are class A feed into a class B so kicks a lot of wasted energy.

Which warms up the house (unless you put it in the loft). Like valve radios, and tungsten filament lighting, it all produces heat to offset the dedicated device running off the gas/oil.

that could be anyone’s guess :-rofl2

To be fair I did know it wasn’t cheap to run due to it being a class a amplifier feed into a class b.

From what I understand it’s the class a amplifier that produces most of the excess heat.

The Maverick D1 tube amp/buffer also kicks it fair share of heat, still it looks nice :Y and inmho sounds good. (I also changed the dac chips to burr-brown) the tube is nos from the 70’s I can’t remember the brand

If I do actually play a record that’s also feed in to a project tube amp before the Maverick.

Only the Maverick is plugged into the quads.

That does "smack" of a poorly-designed house insulation system.
PS: PM me if you would like to know more of "what I have seen elsewhere" about this issue.

I think that dish needs to sit next to the fire.

Beautiful view across the snowy moors this morning, with a bright blue sky above.

Must go for a walk later and enjoy this lovely wx while we can.

+33°C here... No chance of snow. Or rain for that matter.

I've just been drooling over your FB "Buffet" pics. Reminds me of Le Tousserok where I pent the second of my three honeymoons

Bright and sunny here again, but one glance outside and I note we have a good couple of cm of snow, very pretty

about 2.5-3" settled overnight here, and in the past 20 minutes, it's started snowing again with biggish flakes and is happily settling making the snow depth deeper... :)
