Most mornings when I'm able I watch Alpenpanorama on 3Sat, caught it on Sunday morning and was surprised by how much snow there is around the Alps already and at relatively low altitudes.

Just serviced the snowthrowers today and swapped to studded winter tyres on the car.

Now prepared for the 4 month long winter

The sun fails to rise over the 500 meter mountain to the south in a few days until 10 february next year.

Light the log burning stove or hibernate.

Wasn't me, had a new boiler a couple years back, house is still like a fridge, but at least there's a thermostat now...

Sorry - age-related "error" then :mad:

This place ain't so bad now - the combi is managing to keep the temp around 22-24C , thanks to all the wall, floor & roof insulation

We've just had a delivery of one tonne of anthracite for the Rayburn in the kitchen (which has been lit since the start of November) and I've just lit the log burner in the lounge where it's 18C and rising. Currently 4.5C outside and possible snow showers by Friday.......

Winter started 15 nov. for us.
Today -4C max -9C now, can expect temp. will sink even further tonight as it`s star clear tonight. Will pop out later to view the milky way galaxy ( not the choccy bar ). I still sit out on the veranda each day for a couple of hours and nod off in the rocking chair ( limit is - 13C )

Good job I serviced the snowblowers as we now have 28cm fresh snow and an uphill track 150 meters to get the car onto the mainroad, main worry are the snowplough heaps that freeze very fast.

Getting used to these conditions after living here for 19 years.

Roll on suns return 10 feb. and snow melting sometime in end april start may.
