Hi friends ..
It'll be a miracle if all my dishes survive today without damage ..
Within the last 30 minutes ..the wind has picked up considerably ..
Coming from the West with gusts estimated at 70 mph ..
the rain is driving in sideways like stair-rods..

..and I'm in my shop panicing about the damage at home ..

Just got back in from shopping and it's a bit blowy here but not too bad. I think most of the bad weather is sliding up the Western side of the UK and missing us.

Is it worth staying open VS? If you can get home and secure everything will your peace of mind be worth more than the profits you'd lose?

No satellite stuff for the moment (aside from a 43cm minidish that was on the house already), Samsung SyncMaster T27B550 Smart TV & Monitor, and a few computers...

It's a bit blowy round these parts, heavy bursts of rain too, I think about the only dish damage that could occur is to the $ky dish, assuming the water doesn't get up the unsealed, unshielded and poorly fitted cabling... :confused

Not to mention it's bouncing about like a kid on a space hopper, it's no wonder I struggled to get a good signal this morning with it losing focus so easily, that octo-LNB is a heavy weight on the end of that arm...

Wouldn't be so bad if I actually had a set of ladders that could reach the thing... O-Ha

My dish is bouncing around big style at the moment. Had to park it at 5e so it takes most the impact of the gusts off it.

Had some quite bad gusts in the last 2 hours :(

Getting a real pounding here.Just had a look at the dish, still pointing at 28.2.But flapping about well.my dish is parralell to the house so I think the wind blows between the wall and dish.

It's a bit blowy down here in the SE too but nothing like elsewhere in the country. The view from my window is looking like this at the moment.

Calm as millpond here atm ..but seriously ruddy cold ..

Hardly any tree movement nor a cloud in the sky that I can make out ..
What a contrast to this afternoon.
Here's a snap to prove it ...and in the far far distance ...yes ... thats a beautiful clear 90% eclipsed moon ..
;)
you gotta zoom a bit to make it out
lol

:-Nooo

We just had a snow shower blow down the valley!

However the ground is far too wet at this height for it to have stuck.

The forecast last night was for some settling in the lowlands before tomorrow morning. Winter may finally be making an appearace.

That wind at the beginning of the week, it was a bit worse than I thought! I found this earlier on, it's the top bracket on the Ku dish and also the anchor point for one of the mast guys. Both would have been exerting quite a lot of force to the left, hence the crack. Looks like it will have to come down and have the wall remade then rethink the mounting arrangement

That isn't too bad, and maybe you can move the whole arrangement to the left, re-using the left side bolt holes in the right of the T/Ks.

It also looks as though the top K is close to the eaves, where the pebbledashing is possibly less well secured to the brickwork.

Why not drill right through and put in some studding with washers ?

There's been some snowfall here this morning, too warm and wet on the ground for it to stick though, so it hasn't... :confused

Yep ..we got a few of those here as well ..
Loud enough to wake me from my sleep in the early hours ..
..and through double glazing ..so it must have been loud ..
Popped my head outside to see what the noise was about ...and there were hailstones of varying sizes ...some up to a cm
Nasty..

A distinct sprinkling of snow and sub zero temperatures = roads like skating rinks this morning. Not fun going to work.
